Accenture will sign a deal with Canada, Netherlands and other parties to use Blockchain ID verification technology in order to identify travelers. This is quite big and we should expect similar moves around the globe.
What is Accenture?
Accenture is a company that provides professional services regarding consulting, strategy, digital, technology and operations around the globe. The company has been incorporated in Dublin and Ireland since 1 September 2009, according to Wikipedia.
The giant service provider is teaming up with Air France-KLM, Air Canada, several airports, Dutch and Canadian Government. The move has been confirmed by David Treat (managing director of capital markets) at the Synchronize Europe conference in London, on June 18th.
Treat said:
“If I’m able to take my user-controlled identity, decide that I actually want to share so that I can get hyper-personalized service. I want to share aspects of my preferences, my identity with those players […] in my journey, can I get a better service?”
The use of blockchain technology for identification will result in faster border controls.
Canada’s Minister of Transport, Marc Garneau commented:
“Leveraging new technological advancements can support risk-based approaches to public safety and security, making air travel more efficient while improving the travel experience.”
I am getting really excited every time adoption news comes in. Blockchain technology is a cheap, fast, and a secure solution for many industries.
