Coinbase Now a Principal Member of Visa

Visa, the American multinational financial services corporation, is exploring the crypto realm. And is seeking the right staff to do it.

Visa’s interest in crypto and payment solutions is growing. In its recent job posting on USA.visa.com the corporation announced that it is seeking a technical product manager. This person should have a passion for the intersection of payments and cryptocurrency. The company also wants to find out whether a candidate is “deeply familiar with permissionless blockchain technology and have a close network of experts in the fast-moving cryptocurrency and fintech ecosystem?” Besides, the job posting makes it clear that the candidate should be prepared to help fintechs looking to support cryptocurrencies.

Ultimately, the person will be responsible for executing Visa’s product strategy within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. S/he will be based in Plo Alto, the company’s Silicon Valley innovation and research hub.

“The ideal candidate will “possess significant functional knowledge of the cryptocurrency ecosystem and players involved, including in-depth knowledge around permissionless blockchain technology as well as a deep understanding of existing retail payment solutions.”

Behemoths entering the market

Visa is not the only payment company which is becoming more and more interested in how to use crypto for a variety of purposes. Its competitor, Mastercard, for example, is exploring the blockchain technology and how to use it for anonymizing user transactions.

Besides, it has emerged recently that Kroger, a major US retailer banned Visa credit cards at its chain of Smith’s food and drug stores. The reason was that the fees were excessive. It is now reportedly considering utilizing BTC instead.

Other behemoths, albeit of a different kind, are also exploring the crypto world. J.P. Morgan is about to launch its own coin. Concurrently, Facebook is reportedly developing a crypto token of its own.
