Good news for Android users: the version of the Opera browser with cryptocurrency wallet has been released. The company announced the news at a blockchain event in London. The wallet will first only support Ethereum, but the support for other cryptocurrencies is likely to be added later.

Earlier this year, Opera already announced it would release a browser version with cryptocurrency wallet. Shortly after that, Opera released the beta of this Android version in July. Since last month, desktop versions with the Ethereum wallet were also already available.

Unfortunately for iOS users, at the moment it is only the Android version that has the built-in Ethereum wallet available. Furthermore, the Opera browser’s cryptocurrency wallet only supports Ethereum at launch, but Opera has to intention to support other cryptocurrencies in the future.

Opera said the following about the support for Ethereum:

“We’ve decided to support Ethereum, as it has the largest community of developers building Dapps and has gathered a lot of momentum behind it,” Opera Crypto product manager Charles Hamel explained.

The browser also supports Ethereum DApps and the web3 api. It will enable users to make transactions online and also securely store their digital tokens within the browser itself.

Users can get started with the cryptocurrency wallet by downloading the latest version of the Opera browser for Android. After that, users are ready to go. See the below video for a nice introduction:
