Swiss-based digital payments processor Utrust has partnered with Alternative Airlines. This partnership is designed to facilitate crypto payments.
Buying tickets with cryptocurrency has never been easier. This is according to an official announcement by the company on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Prior to this time, cryptocurrency service Utrust had never partnered with a travel agency.
Now, users can make flight bookings and payments with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dash, DigiByte (DGB) and Utrust’s native token UTK.
The partnership provides Alternative Airline users with several exciting features. They include buyer protection, instant cross border transactions, and direct crypto-to-cash settlements. Users currently have more than 650 airlines available for booking on the website. For instance, Delta, United, British Airways, Virgin and Emirates, etc.
Speaking on the partnership, Nuno Correia, CEO of Utrust said the partnership will provide users with cheap and easy methods of booking flight. He added: “For business or leisure, flight travel can be expensive with consumers saving for months to afford a trip. […]Utrust is providing Alternative Airlines’ customers with the increased security and convenience of cryptocurrency payments”. Processing fees will be reduced to the barest minimum bringing “transparency and trust to the world of online payments.”
More use cases for crypto
Though many people have chosen to ignore cryptocurrencies, it is quite clear that they are here to stay. To that end, the believers keep on creating use cases for cryptocurrency. In August, SL Benfica partnered with Utrust to enable payments using crypto for tickets and merchandise. Users can buy tickets or any other product on the club’s website. Only Utrust’s native token (UTK), Bitcoin and Ether, can be used on the website.
Co-founder and CSO of Bitstop, Doug Carrillo disclosed that people now prefer to travel with Bitcoin instead of cash. He said: “Miami International Airport is a perfect place for our customers to conveniently exchange their dollars for Bitcoin and vice versa when traveling domestically or abroad.”
