This is exactly what open-source software publisher block.one did with the launch of an upgraded version of its EOS.io protocol. This announcement first appeared in a tweet on January 10, 2020.

The second version is most of the time better than the first. At least so the mantra goes.
It seems like this is exactly what block.one had in mind when offering the new service to its users.
Reason for the launch
Prior to the launch, the company had developed a plan. And, from what we can gather, block.one has a number of reasons for this new release. Thus, the upgrade will ensure block.one is quicker, easier and more secure.
As per a blog post by EOS, there will also be changes in the smart contract virtual machine. Accordingly, the platform has decided to include a WASM engine, where EOS smart contracts operate. That said, the WASM Official Website referred to WASM as an instructional format. It’s created mainly for deployment on both web and servers. With these changes in place, smart contract execution on block.one will be greatly improved.
Importantly, block.one alleges that the upgrade is about sixteen times faster than the previous version.
Alongside the upgrade, EOS.io 2.0 will also launch a WebAuthn support. For the uninitiated, it is a web authentication standard based on public-key cryptography. With WebAuth for EOS.io, developers will be able to test the signing of transactions.
At the end of the day, this is a serious move by Block.one. It signifies that the company is ready to work on continuous improvements aimed at bettering user experience.
Previously, Altcoin Buzz reported that Block.one purchased RAM worth about $25 million. And about a new partnership between Binance partners with Banxa, offering new fiat services to Australian users.
