CoinMarketCap (CMC), the popular data source for total market cap and price changes in crypto assets celebrated its 5 year anniversary today. Since its launch in 2013, the website has established itself as the go-to place for all things crypto price related. To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the company has unveiled a new logo, an updated website, and a new app for iOS in the companies blog post.
When the website launched in 2013, it tracked seven cryptocurrencies and a few exchanges. The total market cap at that time was around $1.6 billion USD. At press time today, it tracks 1602 cryptocurrencies, 10549 markets, and calculates the market cap to be made up of $421 billion USD. According to Amazon Alexa, CMC is the 174th most visited website on the internet. Pictured below is a historical snapshot from April 28th, 2013 of CMC.

Watchlist Feature
You can now add cryptocurrencies to your watchlist by clicking on the star located on the right side of the window. You can view all the assets added to your watchlist by navigating to Tools>Watchlist.
Mobile App
Users running iOS can download the “Coinmarketcap.com” app from the app store. Be careful when you are downloading the app as there are others in the app store that are called “Coinmarketcap” that are not the official app. Look for the one with a blue and white variant the new logo (pictured at the top of this article) that is called “Coinmarketcap.com”. Click HERE for a link to the official app on the app store. The app also has the new watchlist feature. Simply swipe left on a cryptocurrency from the list to add it to your watchlist, or tap on the currency and click the star below.
Updated Website
CMC’s new website boasts new fonts and colors. CMC also introduced their new logo, which according to CMC’s blog post, “represents the CMC of CoinMarketCap and the ups and downs of the markets.”
