Based on reports, crypto exchange and custodian, Gemini, is expanding its services to Australia.

This development means Australian residents can now download the Gemini mobile app on iOS or Android to trade major cryptocurrencies. The exchange’s list of supported digital currency includes Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and Zcash (ZEC). However, Gemini dollar (GUSD) won’t be available, the official website noted.

Wider coverage

The expansion to Australia makes it the sixth country in the world supported by the cryptocurrency exchange. Gemini also supports trading in Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UK. The exchanges coverage covers 49 states in the United States.

CEO and co-founder of Gemini, Tyler Winklevoss said: “Cryptocurrency is the future of money. We’re committed to building a bridge to that future in Australia.” “We are thrilled to continue expanding our global footprint and give Aussies a safe and trustworthy cryptocurrency experience. We founded Gemini to build trust in this nascent technology and we look forward to building that trust in Australia,” Tyler added.

Updates on Gemini

Gemini was founded in the year 2014. The cryptocurrency exchange is the brainchild of Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the famous investors and supporters of Facebook.

Based on reports, Gemini is the 77th largest cryptocurrency exchange by trade volume. It’s also a 24-hour exchange with a trading volume of 16.5 million dollars. The exchange has around 200 workers in locations like Oregon, New York, and Chicago.

In May 2018, New York state’s financial regulators granted Gemini Trust Co permission to offer Zcash trading on their platform.

In September, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins announced the creation of a USD-pegged Ethereum token. The token aims to overtake tether (USDT) as the stablecoin of choice among bitcoin traders. The exchange hopes the stablecoin will become digital cash that will ensure the best of fiat and blockchain assets.

In December, Gemini announced it has added support for trading and custody of the ABC variant of Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The exchange announced the news of the Bitcoin Cash listing with a post on its official Medium blog.
