On February 18, La Nacion reported that Davis texted an executive at a crypto investment firm.
In the message, he claimed he could pay Karina. He suggested this payment would be in exchange for her brother promoting $LIBRA on X.
Davis Linked to LIBRA Token Claims Payment for Promotion
Davis, the CEO of Kelsier Ventures and linked to the $LIBRA token said: “We can also have Milei tweet and meet in person and do promo”. Another message purportedly sent by Davis stated, “I send $$ to his sister and he does whatever I say and does what I want.” However, the firm that received the offer reportedly declined it.
According to Cointelegraph, when approached for comment, Davis could not be reached, but a spokesperson claimed he didn’t recall sending the messages and had no record of them on his phone. Davis also denied making any payments to either Javier or Karina Milei.

Karina Milei currently serves as general secretary for Argentina’s presidential office and has become a close adviser to her brother. She is often seen accompanying him on official trips. Following the launch of $LIBRA, Davis and Kelsier Ventures reportedly profited handsomely, claiming to have netted around $100 million, though Davis insisted he did not own the tokens and had no plans to sell them.
Milei Denies Promoting $LIBRA Amid Controversy
At its peak, LIBRA boasted a staggering market cap of $4.5 billion, only to crash about 95% shortly after. Javier Milei has denied “promoting” the LIBRA token, arguing instead that he merely “spread the word” about it. In his first public statement since the token controversy, Milei said, “I did not promote that. What I did, I spread the word.” This statement comes as calls for his impeachment from the opposition intensify.

Milei asserted that he has “nothing to hide” and acted in “good faith,” but acknowledged he has “something to learn” from the debacle, indicating a need to “start setting filters” regarding acceptable conduct. He maintained that any fallout from the token launch should involve only the parties directly involved, insisting, “The state plays no role here.”
