DLive Joins the BitTorrent Ecosystem

San Francisco based peer-to-peer sharing company BitTorrent has announced that DLive is now part of its ecosystem.

DLive is a blockchain content protocol. Alongside the integration, it will also be migrating to the TRON blockchain. DLive made this announcement via an official blog post. According to it, the firms will collaborate to bring peer-to-peer content sharing as well as live streaming to all its users. All of DLive’s products and services will be available on BitTorrent. The latter will also create awareness for DLive as well as serve as a storage facility.

Justin Sun comments

Launched by BitTorrent early last year, BLive will be absorbed by the DLive platform. Members of both teams will work together and DLive will commence using the BitTorrent File-Sharing System (BTFS). A distributed file-sharing system that enables all content on the live streaming platform to be truly decentralized. To further ensure smooth coalescence, DLive’s account will also be merged with BitTorrent’s.

This integration will ensure DLive has access to BitTorrent’s over 100 million monthly users. Thereby helping the live streaming giant stand out.

BitTorrent also confirmed this news via Twitter. Speaking on the integration, CEO of the company, Justin Sun said: “DLive is one of the best real-world examples of what is possible when you combine blockchain and digital media.” He believes “DLive is a great solution for live media producers”. Also adding that “We look forward to DLive bringing value to the entire world with the addition of TRON and BitTorrent’s global community of passionate creators.”

CEO of the live streaming platform, Charles Wayn echoed Sun’s enthusiasm. He said, “We are ecstatic to have the opportunity to be part of the BitTorrent ecosystem.”

Though DLive is moving over to the TRON network, it will still support the Lino blockchain until the move to the TRON blockchain is complete. Eventually, the LINO coin will no longer be the native coin in the new ecosystem.

Migration Schedule

The migration to TRON will take place according to this schedule:

January 15th, 2020 – The ACE Protocol Foundation will publish a comprehensive plan, introducing BTT tokens to existing LINO Stakeholders.

Q1, 2020 – DLive account system merges with BitTorrent’s.

Late Q1, 2020 – The Lemon and LINO Stake systems will be revamped to ensure smooth integration with TRON and BTT token.

Late Q2, 2020 – In-Depth integration within BitTorrent and uTorrent’s desktop and mobile clients.
