As part of their work towards sustainability, SingularityNET has announced a partnership with the Arizona State University’s (ASU) LightWorks Innovation Accelerator.
As a decentralized platform for the artificial intelligence (AI) economy, SingularityNET intends to build a sustainable and environment-friendly world. Earlier the platform had given out details concerning the anthropogenic causes of global temperature increase. Now it aims to go further in its sustainability movement by partnering with the ASU LightWorks Innovation Accelerator.
According to a Medium blog post, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable collaboration in projects for a sustainable environment. Such projects will support the use of renewable energy to achieve a zero-carbon environment.
About ASU Lightworks
LightWorks Innovation Accelerator is the bridge that links ASU researchers and assets to corporations, NGOs, and government agencies. The sole objective of the program is to provide solutions to sustainability issues. These solutions cover various sectors including
- Sustainable engineering
- Food systems
- Carbon economy
- Clean water
- IoT (internet of things)
- Green finance
Notably, ASU LightWorks aims to facilitate solutions to pressing challenges in the world. And they plan to achieve this through the creation of an ecosystem of innovative technologies. According to their vision, “out of the box” and interdisciplinary design thinking will be instrumental in building such an ecosystem. Their partnership with SingularityNET thus focuses on realizing these goals.
Partnership goals
The partnership between SingularityNET and ASU LightWorks is towards the application of AI and blockchain to promote sustainability. The blog post also highlighted the three broad goals of the alliance:
- The first goal is the application of advanced resilient AI and blockchain technologies in problem-solving. And one of the key areas that this alliance would focus on is that of renewable energy intending to achieve a zero-carbon world.
- The second goal is to achieve a collaboration that will work towards the creation and maintenance of blockchain-enabled Data Commons. These Data Commons will also contain various data sources related to the domains of renewable energy and zero-carbon.
- The third goal, however, is towards joint engagement in the activities of public sustainability. Such activities may include marketing strategies and outreaches.
Results of the partnership
The blog post pointed out that since the inception of the partnership, both parties have commenced two major projects. First of this is the “Research Institute for Trusted AI” (RITA), while the other one is “Smart Grazing, Smart Technology, Carbon Reduction”, a concept for carbon storage. Also, it is pertinent to note here that both these projects have received further support from relevant US government agencies for successful implementation.
Furthermore, the blog post highlighted a collaborative webinar series on AI applications in line with the third goal of the partnership between the two parties.
