Today is the day that so many people in the XRP community have been waiting for. Coinbase Pro just announced the listing of XRP on its trading platform!

In a tweet, Coinbase announced today that they are adding XRP to Coinbase Pro. Soon order books will enter transfer-only mode, accepting inbound transfers of XRP in supported regions. After that, trading of XRP on Coinbase Pro will be enabled.

The tweet from Coinbase Pro:

After 10am on February 25, 2019 Coinbase Pro will begin accepting inbound transfers of XRP to Coinbase Pro. Furthermore Coinbase Pro will accept deposits for a minimum of 12 hours prior to enabling full trading.

According to Coinbase Pro, XRP will be added in four different stages. The stages are:

Transfer-only. Starting after 10am PT on Feb. 25, customers will be able to transfer XRP into their Coinbase Pro account. Customers will not yet be able to place orders and no orders will be filled on these order books. Order books will be in transfer-only mode for at least 12 hours.

  1. Post-only. In the second stage, customers can post limit orders but there will be no matches (completed orders). Order books will be in post-only mode for a minimum of one minute.
  2. Limit-only. In the third stage, limit orders will start matching but customers are unable to submit market orders. Order books will be in limit-only mode for a minimum of ten minutes.
  3. Full trading. In the final stage, full trading services will be available, including limit, market, and stop orders.

After XRP took the second position from Ethereum in November on CoinMarketCap, the call from many people within the crypto space asking Coinbase to finally add XRP became more and more aggressive. Although Ethereum has succesfully reclaimed the second position, it seems the wish of XRP holders will be fulfilled.
