1. Cronos picked nine projects for its accelerator program

Cronos has picked nine innovative projects from a group of 300 applicants for its $100 million Accelerator Program. Its Accelerator is a 10-week program designed to help top project teams grow faster. The Cronos Chain evaluated proposals for Decentralized Finance (DeFi), GameFi, and infrastructure projects based on market potential, product attractiveness, team experience, and synergies.

The nine projects that were chosen are listed below:

  • D.G Pals – an interoperable multi-game
  • Eyeball Pool – multiplayer skill-based mobile game
  • Harbor – web 2.5 multi-genre mobile gaming platform
  • The New Resistance – First Person Shooter game
  • Wild Forest – Free-to-Play & Play-to-Earn mobile real-time strategy game
  • Bubble Maps – supply auditing and analytics visualization tool for tokens and NFTs
  • Meshlink – first all-in-one smart-contract management and transaction analytics platform for Web3 teams
  • ReferReach – the first-of-its-kind referral platform

2. Crypto.com is now legal in Italy

The Organismo Agenti e Mediatori (OAM) in Italy has registered and approved Crypto.com as a provider of virtual currency and digital wallet services. With this license, Crypto.com will be able to offer a range of products and services to Italian customers in accordance with local laws.

This is an important milestone for the exchange in its ambition to grow its global presence. It is because Italy is the third-largest economy in Europe. Furthermore, Italy has become a market for many companies leading the blockchain industry in recent years.

Crypto.com has also recently received Hellenic Capital Market Commission registration in Greece. It also has its registration in Singapore and Dubai.

3. Cronos partnered with Moralis to launch the Hackathon

Cronos is partnering with Moralis, a Web3 development platform, to launch a Web3 Gaming Hackathon. This is a great chance for game developers to advance to the forefront of Web3 game development.

Cronos, Moralis, and other sponsors contributed nearly $100,000 to the entire prize pool. This sum would be divided among the top three teams. The first-place winner will receive $30,000 and the second and third-place winners will receive $20,000 and $10,000, respectively.

The conditions for interested participants are minimal. To compete for the main prizes, projects attending the hackathon must be built with Moralis and Cronos in mind. Here is the schedule of the Hackathon:

  • Deadline for registration – August 15
  • Start of Hackathon – August 20
  • Project submissions – September 16
  • Prize announcements – September 31
  • Demo day in October
4. Cronos Bridge Web App supports the Gravity Bridge testnet

Before the planned Merge on September 19, the Gravity Bridge testnet will be able to connect to the Goerli testnet. It is the final testnet for Ethereum, using the Cronos Bridge Web App. Users can now move ERC20 crypto tokens (WETH, WBTC, USDC, USDT, and DAI) to and from the Ethereum testnet using a locking/mining process thanks to the bridge.

With this most recent advancement, Cronos will get closer to completing the mainnet Gravity Bridge. The gateway will assist Cronos in connecting with Ethereum. It will improve the transfer of assets between the two chains. The bridge will also provide extended advantages and a wider range of products for Cronos.

5. Spooky Pets drop

Cronos is expanding their NFT collection, starting with the Spooky Pets drop. Spooky Pets are a collection of 10,000 adoptable, generative pets that live on the Cronos blockchain. Each Spooky Pet was created from over 100 different features and has its own unique style and story.

Each Spooky Pet purchase will help fund the Spooky Pets rescue blog. It will feature a different animal or animal-related humanitarian organization every week. Owners of Spooky Pet will be able to pitch and vote on weekly stories. Also, they will receive a weekly newsletter with new blog posts, potential featured animals, and updates on all past features.
