Litecoin Foundation Partners Atari over Token launch (1)

Litecoin Foundation and popular videogame maker, Atari, have teamed up to enable Litecoin (LTC) as a means of payment for the soon-to-launch Atari token.

The Singapore based non-profit organization revealed this development while noting that this partnership would lead to LTC integration as a payment method in the Atari ecosystem.

The legendary gaming platform has slated September for the launch of its native token. The new partnership will incorporate the use of LTC to manage purchases and track digital assets in the ecosystem. Additionally, Atari Casino, which already offers casino games with buy-ins using cryptocurrency, would start accepting LTC as a payment method.

Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari, expressed his happiness with the partnership with Litecoin Foundation. According to him, “Litecoin’s ease-of-use and low transaction costs make it a perfect fit for use alongside the Atari token and other projects.”

Litecoin used to purchase new Atari VCS

Also, LTC would become a payment option for purchasing the yet-to-launch VCS game console at a discount. The report further stated that users could pre-order their purchase of Atari’s VCS game and streaming console either from Atari’s website or via the Litecoin Foundation.

According to the popular game maker, the VCS is a PC/console hybrid. With it, the users will have the option to choose from and play hundreds of modern and classic videogames as well as stream 4K video. The VCS will also enable users to create and upload their games and apps for other users to enjoy.

Litecoin Foundation managing director, Charlie Lee was enthusiastic about the possibilities that the partnership could bring for both Litecoin and cryptocurrencies. He also mentioned the impact on the entire gaming industry and also lifelong users and fans of the Atari ecosystem.

“Many of us remember growing up and playing games from Atari. It is great to see now Litecoin being used in different ways within the Atari ecosystem,” he said.

Regarding future collaborations, Lee noted that both platforms had some major plans regarding future collaboration. “We are going to talk in the future about other ways we can work together, like using LTC in-game. We’ll also like to do some joint merchandising like T-shirts with Litecoin and Atari on them,” he explained.

Other developments

Litecoin Foundation has been busy partnering and launching a new initiative to promote and drive the adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain in the crypto space. Recently, it partnered with BitGo to provide the firm with digital asset storage and custody solutions. Also, it relocated from the multi-signature Electrum-LTC wallet to BitGo’s multi-sig wallet.

Notably, Litecoin has also started on the development of MimbleWimble extension blocks to make transactions more confidential.
