In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Friday, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that instead of staying purely a trading company, he would like the firm to become a universal entity that drives crypto adoption.

During the AMA, Armstrong shared his vision for the company in the next 5 years, stating that he would rather see Coinbase becoming more about adoption and less about just being a crypto trading service provider.

To elaborate more on this vision, Armstrong explained that its Coinbase’s mission to help grow the global crypto economy. In order to do this, the company is focusing on connecting people in the market and expanding the crypto community to help people use cryptocurrencies for more than just buying and selling.

One of the initiatives that Coinbase started to push this vision forward is of course incentivized crypto educational program Coinbase Earn, where users can earn cryptocurrencies in exchange for learning more about cryptocurrencies.

Armstrong stated:

“In five years I hope that we’ll have it even further beyond that. There’ll be thousands of companies that’ll be crypto-first.”

Because Armstrong encourages adoption, the Coinbase CEO has a positive stance on Coinbase employees leaving the company to start their own crypto project. Armstrong wants people to learn from Coinbase and spread their knowledge to bring more adoption.
