The browser wallet already supports ERC20 tokens but support for bitcoin, Tron and other TRC-10 tokens has recently been added. It is however very important to note that the cryptocurrency wallet is still in its beta phase.
The company in the announcement said: “With this release, Opera’s Android browser (beta) allows users to send and receive Bitcoin (BTC) and access their transaction history.”
It also added that:
“Most importantly, we are including an experimental integration of Web 3, which makes it possible for websites to request and receive addresses and for users to make transactions with Bitcoin. Opera is bringing Bitcoin to Web 3, allowing you to use this cryptocurrency for transactions on the Web.”
Opera – Bringing crypto with ease to internet users
According to reports, Opera is currently one of the top browsers available today. The browser is very much interested in cryptocurrency, hence its continual effort in ensuring its users have easy access to crypto. The browser first launched its crypto wallet for Android devices in December 2018. In April 2019, it added support for PC browsers and iOS devices. The browser is fashioned on Web 3, this simply means that no third-party browser extensions or wallet applications are needed to gain access to the wallet platform.
The company pointed out that Opera browsers removed the roadblocks experienced when users need to carry out cryptocurrency transactions online or in accessing Web 3.
The company said:
“Before Opera entered the cryptocurrency scene almost a year ago, using cryptocurrencies online and accessing Web 3 required special apps or extensions, which made it difficult for people to even try it out. Our browsers remove that friction.”
