Tech giant Samsung is reportedly looking into ways to add cryptocurrencies to its Samsung Pay App. The company previously already announced the focus to expand blockchain and cryptocurrency services.
According to Business Korea, the oldest and most well-known monthly business magazine in the country, Samsung has created a blockchain task force within the company.
Apparently, the blockchain task force was the team behind the Samsung Blockchain KeyStore and the Samsung Blockchain Wallet that were added onto the Galaxy S10 smartphone last March.
Now, according to Business Korea, Samsung merged the blockchain task force with the division responsible for the development and operations of Samsung Pay. Because of that, it is highly likely that Samsung Pay add cryptocurrencies in the near future.
The article from Business Korea states:
“The reshuffle was carried out when the company announced plans to expand its blockchain and cryptocurrency services.”
This month, Samsung announced that besides the Galaxy S10, the company is also going to support the crypto wallet on its cheaper range of devices with a future update. Furthermore, in April, Samsung invested $2.9 million in crypto hardware wallet startup Ledger.
