Google-owned platform, YouTube has reportedly announced that the crypto-related video delete was an “in error,” and have been fully restored.
According to a tweet shared to Carl the Moon regarding the removal of crypto-related videos. The social media giant said they have restored all contents and his strikes issued have also been resolved.

This is happening a day after YouTube abruptly deleted millions of crypto-related videos citing it as “harmful or dangerous content.”
Although the Google-owned platform has not officially made any statements in this regard. A report has circulated noting the deletion was accidental, an “in error.” It stated that YouTube has explained that the content was taken down by accident and has since been restored.
Crypto influencers calling for a boycott of YouTube
The decision by YouTube to delete crypto-related contents infuriated crypto communities across the world. Leading to several crypto influencers demanding in unison for crypto users to boycott of the social platform.
Several influencers have demanded an official explanation for the removal in what they described as a “well-planned strike” against the crypto-community.
According to them, several users create videos and content to help people across the world understand cryptocurrencies and related tech.
Nishcal Shetty, founder of the P2P crypto trading platform WazirX, in India, tweeted that, “Wow! YouTube censoring crypto-related news content. It looks like a direct attack on free speech.”
A decentralised content platform
Crypto influencers have said they are looking for other platforms to share their content. Also, Many YouTubers have expressed interest in moving to blockchain-based social media platforms to share content.
LBRY, a decentralised content sharing platform, has said that over 200,000 people have started using its platform in the last few days.
Changpeng Zhao, the founder and CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, chimed in on Twitter about the dilemma, stating, “It may be time the crypto community take a stab at its own blockchain-enabled censorship-resistant social media platform. Lots of challenges, though, spam, scam, trolls, incentives, copyright, token economics, governance, stickiness, privacy, But It’s about time!”

TRON CEO and Founder, Justin Sun, also chimed in, tweeting, “Posting your content through #BTFS and @BitTorrent. Although not as popular but it will exist on the internet forever and be available anytime anywhere!”
Notably, Google has also been taking severe actions against content that are abusive and explicit or are breaking its advertiser guidelines.
