Latest Updates from Reuben Yap, ZCoin

Decentralized and open-source privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcoin (XZC) has released version 14.0.0 of its crypto.

This upgrade comes with deterministic Znodes and LLMQ. According to Zcoin, this is a compulsory upgrade as it affects over 2,831 files since its iconic v13.8.10 upgrade. The platform is asking all its users to update them before June 22, 2020.

Features of the Upgrade

The new Zcoin v.14.0.0 comes with an upgraded Bitcoin core 14/15 alongside better code structure and syncing speeds.

It is also equipped with deterministic Znode Lists and Long-lived masternode quorums (LLMQ). This, in essence, helps create a more solid and credible Znode network system. Find out more about deterministic Znodes and LLMQ here.

Notably, the new upgrade will fix issues like “out of sync Znode lists, false alarms of NEW_START_REQUIRED”. Zcoin V.14.0.0 will also completely eliminate issues like disparities in Znode payments and micro chain splits.

Plans are in place to launch a 51% attack proof alongside Chainlocks protection and instant send in the near future. As the deterministic nodes and LLMQ launch serve as a foundation for these other upgrades.

Actions required

Zcoin has informed users to upgrade their wallet before block 278300, which is expected on June 22, 2020, at approximately 12.00 (UTC). The upgrade process is quite straightforward. Users first need to back up their older wallet version. Then, install the new version 14.0.0 and then replace their binary.

Users who own a Znode will need to register on the new Znode system but only after block height 278300. Efforts to register before they will be met with error messages. Find out more about registering on the new Znode system here.

Previously existing Znodes version can, however, still receive payment up until block 284400 which is estimated to be July 13, 2020, at 12:00 (UTC). Moving forward, only updated and registered Znodes will receive payments and rewards. Announcements will be made on actions required for users who own hardware wallets. The same goes for users using the Electron Rich GUI wallet.
