Great news for Brave Browser Users! It’s possible to monetize the Basic Attention Token.

According to a blog post, the Brave Browser now provides the latest desktop version (0.69), “users can choose to transfer Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) out of their Brave Rewards wallet and convert the tokens to many digital assets and fiat currencies…” Previously, most users could only use their tokens for tipping and rewards, not withdraw.

To monetize the coin, users will have to undergo a verification process digital money platform Uphold.

Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave, commented on the development. He said, “Brave’s goal to reconnect users with creators and advertisers in order to fix the broken online ad system is now complete with the new Brave wallet, and we’re thrilled to have partnered with Uphold for this crucial development.”

The latest development is great for devoted users. If they have been dutifully collecting BAT allotments, or watching Brave ads to earn tokens, they will have the chance to spend them.

How BAT has grown

The ecosystem around the Basic Attention Token has shown formidable growth this year. There are now over 280,000 verified publishers, according to batgrowth.com, with many categories growing exponentially.

The number of YouTube accounts monetized by reward has grown tenfold in the past year, from 20,000 to more than 200,000. The number of websites monetized by Brave rewards has tripled, from under 10,000 to more than thirty thousand.

Basic Attention Token is an Ethereum-based ad-exchange platform connecting publishers, advertisers, and users on the blockchain. Its native token is BAT (ERC-20).  Users can utilize BAT to purchase ads through its Google-like advertising platform.
