Entrepreneur and crypto advocate, John McAfee has kick-started his 2020 United States presidential campaign.
The news about John McAfee United States presidential campaign comes up despite the U.S. authorities looking for him. McAfee revealed his decision on Twitter, saying he knows he cannot become the United States President. But, he believes he’s the perfect candidate to disrupt the system, and he intends to do so.
Quoting his tweet: “The McAfee 2020 U.S. Presidential Campaign has now formally begun. I cannot be President. You all know this. But I hope you also know that I am a perfect candidate to disrupt this system, and I fully intend to do so. Welcome to our first campaign video.”
McAfee’s official campaign website gives insight into his campaign platform.
It states: “My campaign platform contains one item: how do we free ourselves from a government that no longer serves us. But, instead, it’s now our master, controlling our every action, down to the detail of what we may or may not put into our bodies and minds.”
A notable aspect of the freedom he spoke about involves promoting cryptocurrency. McAfee previously mentioned that he envisions getting on a debate stage and preaching the virtues of Bitcoin to the masses.
Although, it’s very much unlikely. Simply because McAfee is currently in exile as he’s wanted by the IRS.
McAfee’s second presidential bid
In 2016, John McAfee came out as the runner-up for the Libertarian nomination. Although, he eventually lost out to former New Mexico Governor, Gary Johnson. Thus, the decision to run for the 2020 United States Presidential election makes it McAfee’s second presidential bid.
McAfee initially revealed his intention to run for U.S. president last year. He said that if the Libertarian Party refuses him, he’ll create his own party.
At the moment, McAfee repeatedly said that he doesn’t expect to win. But, his sole aim for running involves disrupting the status quo. As well as making use of his campaign as a vehicle to promote cryptocurrency.
