Top 3 Altcoins for 2nd Half of 2025

There are many indicators that the next and final leg up for this bull run is about to start. For example, recently, the US Senate allowed the GENIUS Act to go to a vote. Sure, there are still a few kinks to iron out. However, if this bill passes, it will be a massive bullish boost.  Coinbase joined the S&P 500, bringing crypto a step closer to mainstream. Michael Saylor’s Strategy is raising $722.5 million to buy more $BTC.

All this is very bullish. Bitcoin’s price is dancing around $107-$109k and keeps flirting with a new ATH. Currently, it’s around 3% away from this new ATH. This means that alt season is around the corner. That’s why today I cover three altcoins that could do well during this bull run.

Ondo Finance ($ONDO)

With Ondo Finance ($ONDO) we’re looking at the top RWA contender for this bull run. $ONDO is also the first of today’s list of altcoins. Its market cap is 3x bigger than Maker ($MKR), the runner-up in this sector. That’s roughly $3 billion over $1 billion. 

The biggest, recent news was that Ondo teamed up with Kinexys by JPMorgan and Chainlink. Kinexys is JPMorgan’s private chain. All three players worked together to connect bank settlement infrastructure to Ondo Chain. This happened on their testnet. It was a cross-chain, atomic DvP settlement of $OUSG. That’s Ondo’s Short-Term US Government Treasuries Fund stablecoin. It’s backed by Short Term US Treasuries.

Ondo also partnered with PayPal. This allows instant conversions between PayPal’s stablecoin $PYUSD and Ondo’s $OUSG. You can mint $OUSG with $PYUSD with 24/7 instant redemptions of $OUSG for $PYUSD.

Ondo also leverages BlackRock’s expertise in asset management with their BUIDL fund. This offers a deep liquidity situation forming between BlackRock, Circle, and Ondo.  That’s because BlackRock launched the BUIDL token. In turn, BlackRock partnered with Circle to enable 24/7 liquidity. Circle is the company behind $USDC. So, when Ondo launched $OUSG, it enabled 24/7 liquidity with Circle’s USDC.

Ondo also offers its Global Marketplace for RWA. That’s where Wall Street meets DeFi. Or, in other words, Wall Street V2.0. And Ondo is now available on Solana. With the current $ONDO price at 94 cents, so, well below $1, it’s still a great entry. $2 is imminent.

Ethereum ($ETH)

Ethereum ($ETH) has been suffering during the last couple of months. However, that changed recently with the introduction of its Pectra upgrade. It should make Ethereum more user-friendly and efficient. It did this among other things by introducing smart accounts. This allows your wallet to temporarily access smart contracts.

One of the biggest advantages is that Ethereum’s gas fees dropped to 9 cents. That’s unheard of! But there’s more, that really does make Ethereum more user-friendly. For instance,

• Gas sponsorship is another cool feature. This means that you no longer need to pay for gas fees or hold $ETH to pay for transaction fees.
• You can now also pay with customized gas tokens, as long as they are ERC20 tokens.
• There’s now also alternative authentication. Get access to your account or confirm transactions with your passkeys. However, biometrics are also part of the game here. So, these are big improvements for us as users.
  

This is also reflected in the $ETH price. It’s now up by almost 52% over the last 30 days. One day it was even up by 20%. Such a spike didn’t happen for over 4 years on Ethereum. So, the current $ETH price is just above $2.700. It’s knocking on the $2,800 door.

Traditionally, an increase in the $ETH price, kicks off alt season. So, with one or two more such upticks in the $ETH price, we may see altcoins kicking off.

Plume Network ($PLUME)

Plume Network ($PLUME) is the last of today’s altcoins on my list. AnPlume also brings us back to the RWA realm. Behind Ondo and Maker, it’s third on the RWA list, measured by market cap. Plume is Binance’s RWA play. So, that gives it a good hand to play.

So, let’s start with Binance. YZi Labs invested in Plume Network. Binance Labs recently rebranded to YZi Labs. This most likely will lead to a Binance listing anytime soon. Even CZ seems to like this partnership quite a bit.

Plume’s mainnet might launch later this month or in early June. This should position Plume as the leader in RWAfi. There are currently over 180 projects building on Plume. 

Here are some of the features that Plume brings to the table. For example,

• Plume chain, its own RWA configured chain. Ready to take on the RWA world whilst being compliant. Currently, still in testnet.
• Arc, the tokenization engine. This allows you to tokenize everything and bring it onchain within minutes.
• $pUSD, Plume’s own stablecoin. You can use it for payments, trading and as collateral within Plume’s RWAfi ecosystem.
• Plume Passport, it’s RWAfi wallet.
• Nexus, Plume’s own in-house oracle solution.

So, if we look at the current $PLUME price, it’s 16 cents. That’s good, and an excellent entry point. However, the key here is $PLUME’s lower market cap, compared to Ondo. 

It’s a $380k million market cap compared to $3 billion. So, there’s much more growth potential in Plume, but also more risk. Another thing to look out for is $PLUME’s vesting.
