Bitwise’s NEAR ETF starts trading on NYSE Arca

Bitwise’s NEAR ETF began trading on NYSE Arca. Its first flow data will show whether US demand extends beyond NEAR’s rally.

Bitwise’s NEAR exchange-traded product began trading on NYSE Arca on Tuesday, September 29, under the ticker NRR, one day after the exchange certified the fund’s registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

That clears the practical hurdles to trading. It does not establish demand for the product. Actual first-day volume, assets and inflows were not available in the reporting reviewed, so the near-term test starts with the flow data rather than the listing itself.

NRR gives US investors direct NEAR exposure

NRR is designed to track the price of NEAR, with holdings exposed to the token’s market movements. Bitwise calls it the first US spot NEAR exchange-traded product, while its launch announcement said trading would begin on September 29 with a 0.75% annual management fee.

The US launch extends Bitwise’s NEAR product from Europe, where a BaFin-approved staking ETP already trades. Assets in that European product passed $100 million during September 2026, although rising token prices accounted for most of the increase.

Grayscale reached investors second. It filed in January to convert its NEAR trust into an ETF, but that fund had not listed by the time NRR began trading.

Staking adds rewards and redemption risk

Bitwise intends to stake NEAR through its institutional team, targeting participation in average staking rewards of roughly 5%. The fund disclosure says a significant portion of its NEAR could be staked, but it does not provide the expected net return after the separate charge on rewards.

Staking is not a free addition to the product’s yield. Rewards can be lost, validators can incur slashing penalties, and operational problems can affect performance. Bitwise also warns that staking could delay redemptions when investors sell or redeem shares.

The distinction matters for chart traders. The 0.75% management fee is clear, but the cost of the staking program is not fully quantified in the sources reviewed.

NRR is not a conventional registered ETF

Despite the ETF label, NRR is not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Bitwise says that means it does not receive the same protections as mutual funds and ETFs registered under the Act, and its disclosure carries a high risk of substantial loss.

The product structure also sets it apart from a typical regulated ETF. That is relevant before judging early volume or flows: NRR is a single-asset product exposed to NEAR volatility, staking operations and a different regulatory structure.

Early flows separate access from demand

NRR gave US investors access to NEAR before Grayscale’s planned conversion. Access alone does not show that investors are taking meaningful positions.

The first test is whether assets and trading volume build beyond interest linked to NEAR’s price rally. Bitwise is also winding down its Dogecoin ETF, BWOW, which stops trading on October 14. The closure suggests that a low fee did not generate enough demand for its previous single-token launch.

For NRR, the level that would validate early demand is sustained assets and trading activity without relying on a short-lived price move. A quiet first session would leave that case unproven. Stronger flows, followed by a decline in assets during a broader NEAR sell-off, would suggest the holders are not sticking with the product.

Bitwise’s own research shows the range attached to the token. Its base case puts NEAR at $155.85 by the end of 2030, its bear case at $1.63 and its maximum case at $562.81.
