Hyperscale Data has shut down Bitcoin mining operations at its Michigan facility as the company shifts the site toward artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The company switched off all Bitcoin miners following an inspection by an unidentified California based neocloud provider that has agreed to lease computing capacity at the facility.

The transition comes as Hyperscale Data rapidly reduces its Bitcoin holdings to fund its AI data center expansion. The company now holds approximately 215 BTC, down about 79% from the 1,006 BTC it reported holding in late July.

Hyperscale Data Converts Bitcoin Mine to AI Data Center

Hyperscale Data plans to transform its Michigan facility from a Bitcoin mining operation into an AI data center.

The company said an unidentified California-based neocloud provider has contracted for 20 megawatts (MW) of computing capacity under a 10-year master services agreement. The deal includes two optional five-year extensions.

If both extensions are exercised, the agreement could generate more than $1.2 billion over 20 years.

An additional 32 MW capacity option could push potential revenue above $3 billion, while the Michigan site is expected to eventually support approximately 340 MW.

However, Hyperscale cautioned that these projections remain subject to financing, regulatory approvals and other risks. The $1.2 billion figure depends on the customer exercising both extension options, while the $3 billion estimate also requires the additional capacity to be taken.

Bitcoin Sales Fund Hyperscale's AI Expansion

Hyperscale is funding the Michigan transformation partly through its Bitcoin treasury.

On Tuesday, the company disclosed that it had sold approximately 65 BTC for $5.1 million during the week ending August 30.

The proceeds are intended to provide additional capital for the Michigan development.

The latest sale follows a much larger reduction in the company's Bitcoin holdings. On July 30, Hyperscale reported holding approximately 1,006 BTC while selling 100 BTC and arranging a Bitcoin-backed credit facility for the campus.

BitcoinTreasuries.NET now lists the company with approximately 215 BTC, worth around $16.7 million.

That represents a roughly 79% decline from the Bitcoin holdings cited in July and places Hyperscale at 84th among public companies tracked by the platform.

Hyperscale Data Stock Hits Record Low

The Bitcoin sales and AI transition come as Hyperscale Data stock faces significant pressure.

According to Yahoo Finance data, shares closed at $0.1984 on Wednesday, down approximately 17%, after falling to an intraday low of $0.1932.

The closing price marked a split-adjusted record low for the NYSE American-listed company.

Hyperscale had recently completed a one-for-five reverse stock split, with shares beginning to trade on a split-adjusted basis on August 25.

Bitcoin Mining Gives Way to AI Infrastructure

Hyperscale's strategy reflects a broader shift among data-center operators toward AI computing.

Bitcoin mining requires significant electricity and specialized hardware, while AI data centers can potentially generate long-term revenue through contracts for high-performance computing capacity.

For Hyperscale, the Michigan facility is now moving from a Bitcoin focused model toward an infrastructure business built around AI demand.

The company is effectively using part of its Bitcoin treasury to finance that transition, while simultaneously ending mining operations at the site.

The strategy could generate significantly larger long-term revenue if the AI customer exercises its expansion options. However, the company's own projections remain conditional.

Hyperscale Data is therefore making a major strategic shift: selling Bitcoin, ending Michigan mining and redirecting capital toward AI infrastructure.
