Solana Sol VS SUI – Where to Invest $1000 For BIG Altcoins Profits

The next and final leg up for this bull run is imminent. There are a couple of sectors that have the potential to do really well. For example, RWA and AI. However, if we look at Layer 1 chains, there are two that stand out. These are Solana and the Sui Network.

Solana was the star of the last bull run, it did a 171x. So far, during this bull run, the Sui Network has caught a lot of attention. It’s the token with the strongest comeback, each time the market goes up. If you got in when it still was below $1, you’re already up 3x to 7x. So, if you had $1,000, where would you put it? Into Solana ($SOL) or Sui ($SUI)?

Why Solana ($SOL)

As already mentioned, Solana ($SOL) was the darling of the 2021 bull run. Not hard to understand if you bought $SOL at $1.50, and it went all the way up to $260. However, a lot has happened since, and Solana is still holding out strongly.

Let’s first look at one of Solana’s darker moments. That was in December 2022, when its price dropped back to below $10. Many wrote Solana off, but instead, it showed incredible resilience and strength. It managed to bounce back, and how! In January this year, it reached its current ATH of $293. 

That was at the height of the memecoin craze. Pump.fun was churning out memecoins like there was no tomorrow. Money was flowing like crazy. For Pump dot fun, for Solana, and for the memecoin scene. However, that all came to a grinding halt with the $LIBRA disaster. 

$SOL dumped once again, this time to just above $100. However, it looks now like $SOL is recovering nicely. The current $SOL price is around $175, and it seems to be in an uptrend again. At the same time, Solana keeps topping the various charts. See the picture below.

There’s a massive outflow of liquidity and developers from Ethereum to Solana and Sui. Solana keeps topping the charts in weekly and monthly revenue and volume. So, Solana is living up to its Ethereum killer reputation. Although, in all fairness, in my humble opinion, it won’t be that ONE single chain that will defeat Ethereum. It will be a combination of various chains and other factors.

Solana ($SOL) Price Prediction and Topkenomics

However, we also need to look at Solana’s tokenomics, and they are not the best. The main culprit is that Solana has an unlimited token supply. We’re not big fans of such tokenomics, here at Altcoin Buzz. The other thing to consider is that Solana did a 171x during the last bull run. It’s nearly impossible for it to repeat this feat. Realistic price predictions for $SOL seem to range between $500 and $800. That would be a 3.4x to 5.5x. How high do you expect $SOL to go this year? Let me know in the comments.

Why Sui Network ($SUI)

With the Sui Network ($SUI), we’re looking at one of the most promising projects for this bull run. Sui recently celebrated its second birthday. It went from a single ripple to a rolling tide. And a blue water wave it is, indeed. That’s because Sui means water in Japanese.

From September 2024 onwards, Sui started its rise. In only five months, the $SUI token price went from 80 cents to its current ATH of $5.35 in early January. That’s a good 5x. Like the rest of the market, $SUI’s price also dropped. However, it always managed to come back stronger with the biggest gains in each pump.

After going back down to $2 in April, it’s now finding a new focus around the $3.50 mark. During mid-April, it started to pump again. Now it’s ready to tackle that new ATH and beyond. See the picture above.

So, if we look at its tokenomics, they’re much better compared to Solana. There’s a max and total supply of 10 billion $SUI. However, only 3.3 billion tokens circulate. That’s a weaker point. Nonetheless, its market cap is ‘only’ $11.2 billion. So, there’s a lot more room to see upwards price action, compared to Solana, that already has a $75 billion market cap. Currently, $SUI looks like Solana back in 2021 before the bull run! See the picture below.

Recently we saw Sui Basecamp in Dubai. This took place on 1st and 2nd May. There was plenty of news, which we covered in this video.

Sui also has various ETF filings under its wings. Canary Funds filed in April for a $SUI ETF. A few weeks, in early May, 21Shares filed for another $SUI ETF. This shows that institutional interest in Sui is growing. 

Sui TVL and Gaming

In various metrics, Sui is showing strength. For example, in DeFi, where it takes 8th spot in TVL among all other chains. However, one sector to keep an eye out for is gaming.

The SuiPlay0X1 handheld gaming device sold out with 10,000 copies on pre-order. If you ordered one, you should receive it by September. During Basecamp, the device was on display for the first time, and it was an instant hit. Sui also introduced a Game-Dollar. A programmable, stablecoin for Sui’s gaming ecosystem.

The Verdict

So, where are you going to put those $1,000? Solana will most likely have a good run. However, by no means will it pull off another 171x. If we look at $800, that’s a 5x and I would call that a fair expectation. It’s common for projects to not be able to repeat the last bull run’s success.

So, that brings us to Sui. I have already pointed out that it has a smaller market cap compared to Solana. If $SUI manages to reach Solana’s current market cap, that’s a 6.75x. $SUI’s price would be $23.68. That’s also not unrealistic.

I’m not capable of predicting future prices, I wish I could, and I most likely wouldn’t be sitting here. However, it looks to me that Sui has the better chance to grow in price, between the two of them.
