SHIB netflow turns positive, but the two figures can't both be right

A Sept. 19 report put SHIB net exchange inflow at 115,228 billion SHIB, but its headline said 468 million. The figures differ by orders of magnitude.

A Sept. 19 market report put Shiba Inu's net exchange inflow at 115,228 billion SHIB, about $619 million at $0.00000537, with inflows of 465,652 billion SHIB against outflows of 350,424 billion SHIB. The same report's headline said only 468 million tokens had moved onto exchanges, worth roughly $2,500 at the same price. Neither number has been independently confirmed on a public on-chain dashboard at the time of writing. That is the practical reason the seller-fatigue read from the same report cannot be treated as settled.

SHIB briefly dropped below $0.00000480 before bouncing to about $0.00000537, the same report says, and is back above the cluster of shorter-term moving averages between $0.00000500 and $0.00000520. Total tokens transferred rose 1.09% to roughly 3.006 trillion SHIB, with transactions up 0.96% and transfers up 1.03%, so on-chain activity did not roll over alongside the price weakness.

What The Figures Imply

If the body figure is correct, that would be an unusually large one-day netflow figure for SHIB by any historical measure. The 468 million SHIB headline figure, by contrast, would be a rounding error on any normal day. The report does not publish a 30-day baseline, so neither reading can be classified as high, low, or typical for SHIB without a separate data series.

The report frames the result as "seller fatigue," the argument that the marginal effect of further selling diminishes when a market absorbs high exchange inflows without going lower. It stops short of calling the setup bullish, describing it instead as "getting better." That framing assumes the body figure is the right one to read.

Why Neither Number is Independently Verifiable

The report does not name the underlying on-chain provider. Etherscan's SHIB token page does not surface a labelled exchange-balance series, and a 30-day baseline for SHIB exchange netflow was not available from any free dashboard at the time of writing. The average inflow transaction size, roughly 1,132 billion SHIB per the report, is large enough that a small number of transactions would move the netflow total meaningfully. Without a second source confirming the inflows, outflows or netflow figure, both readings remain the report's claim rather than a settled on-chain fact.

Burn and Shibarium Context the Report Leaves Out

A separate Sept. 18 tracker readout put 24-hour burn at $0 and the daily burn rate down 100%, with 7-day burn at 44.60 million SHIB and 30-day burn at 413.44 million SHIB. Weekly burn rate is down 69.59% and 30-day burn rate is down 88.05% from earlier in the year, the readout adds. The same tracker, however, was displaying a "Burn activity is temporarily unavailable" notice at the time of reading, so the $0 figure may reflect a tracker outage rather than the burn mechanism itself having stopped.

Shibarium's own explorer was showing only 53% of blocks indexed at the time of writing, with an explicit warning that some counts may be inaccurate during the reindexing process. The chain has been undergoing server migration and reindexing since late 2025, so any Shibarium-linked claim about SHIB throughput, bridging or fee burns from the same window should be read with the same caveat.

What To Watch Next

A second on-chain data provider confirming the netflow, the underlying provider being named, the Shibburn tracker coming back online, and Shibarium's reindex completion are the four things that would actually settle the question of whether selling pressure is fading. Until then, the price bounce from below $0.00000480 to about $0.00000537 is the only settled fact in the piece.
