Strategy has returned to the Bitcoin market with a $369.7 million purchase, marking its first BTC acquisition since June.

The company bought 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318 during the week ended August 30, according to its latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchase brings Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 845,050 BTC, acquired for approximately $63.73 billion at an average cost of $75,412 per Bitcoin.

Strategy returns to Bitcoin buying

Strategy funded the latest purchase primarily through its equity program. During the same week, the company sold 4,531,421 MSTR shares, generating $602.8 million after commissions.

Of that amount, $369.7 million went toward Bitcoin purchases. Strategy also allocated $151.8 million to STRC share buybacks, $50.7 million to preferred-stock dividends and $30 million to its USD Cash account.

The move marks a notable shift after Strategy sold Bitcoin during the summer.

Buying back at a higher price

Between May and August, Strategy sold 6,948 BTC for roughly $432.5 million, averaging about $62,250 per coin. Its latest purchase came at $80,318 around 29% higher than the average price of those sales.

As a result, Strategy now holds 2,345 fewer BTC than it did before the selling period, although the company retained roughly $63 million of the difference in cash.

The earlier sales came after STRC traded below its $100 par value in June, limiting one of Strategy’s funding routes for Bitcoin purchases. The company subsequently established a Digital Credit Capital Framework that authorized up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin sales to fund dividends and preferred-share buybacks.

Strategy strengthens its cash position

Strategy's liquidity position has also expanded. As of August 30, its USD Reserve stood at $5.10 billion, while its unrestricted USD Cash account held $1.61 billion.

Together, the two pools totaled $6.71 billion, with the company reporting net leverage of 0%.

Strategy also repurchased 1,557,177 STRC shares for $151.8 million during the week. That leaves $364.8 million under its $1 billion digital credit repurchase authorization, while a separate $1 billion authorization for MSTR buybacks remains unused.

The latest purchase puts Strategy back into accumulation mode, but at a significantly higher Bitcoin price than where it sold earlier this year.
