XRP Ledger Payment Volume Triples, but Payment Count Rises Only 56%

XRPScan shows XRPL payment volume at 363.3 million XRP, up 200.1% in a day, while payment count rose 56.2%. DEX orders drove the transaction jump.

XRP Ledger payment volume reached 363.3 million XRP on XRPScan's daily metrics page, up 200.1% on the day when the page was checked on Oct. 13. The number of payments rose far less, 56.2% to 895,000, so the jump came from bigger transfers rather than a matching rise in activity.

That gap is the first thing to separate from the headline figure. The second is that a different percentage is already circulating for the same reading.

Two Percentages for the Same 363.3 Million XRP

A 153.9% rise has been repeated for XRPL payment volume. XRPScan's own page shows the same 363.3 million XRP endpoint but a 200.1% change. Since the endpoint matches, the difference sits in the base: the two figures most likely compare against different windows or were taken at different update times.

The gap is not trivial. A 200.1% rise means volume roughly tripled. A 153.9% rise means it grew about two and a half times.

Neither figure makes this a record day. Longer-range comparisons, including a 30-day average and the all-time high for payment volume, have not been checked against XRPScan's chart, so this one-day reading cannot yet be placed against them.

Volume Outran the Number of Payments

Payment volume counts XRP moved in payments, not the number of people sending it. With volume roughly tripling and payment count up about 1.6 times, the average payment got larger. A handful of big transfers could account for most of the rise, but the metrics page does not identify which transfers they were.

Active accounts rose 26.7%, the smallest gain on the board. That is a modest change in the number of participants set against a much larger change in XRP moved.

DEX Orders Drove the Transaction Jump

Transactions nearly doubled to 2.3 million. The transaction-type breakdown on XRPScan shows where much of that came from:

  • OfferCreate, the transaction that places an order on the ledger's built-in DEX, rose 85.8% to 711,400, roughly three in ten of the day's transactions.
  • tecKILLED, a failed-result code, rose 180.6% to 149,300.

A surge in order placement alongside a sharper surge in failed results fits automated DEX trading better than a wave of new users. That is a reading of the transaction mix. XRPScan does not label any of this activity as bot-driven, and no source has attributed it.

Fees burned, 356.3 XRP, rose 42.5%. That is in line with more transactions hitting the ledger, and small in absolute terms.

What the Ledger Data Says About XRP Price

Directly, nothing. Payment volume measures XRP moving between accounts on the ledger. It does not show buying or selling, and a one-day spike in transfers is not a demand signal on its own.

Chart levels for XRP are circulating alongside this data, but none have been checked against a price source, so they are not repeated here.

The on-chain test is whether payment volume holds above 363.3 million XRP over the next several daily readings, and whether payment count and active accounts rise with it. If volume falls back while DEX order counts stay elevated, the Oct. 13 print reads as a trading-activity day, not a shift in how the ledger is used for payments.
