Strive Buys 3,311 Bitcoin, Its Largest Purchase Since January

Strive bought 3,311 bitcoin between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9, lifting its treasury to 32,773 BTC, a stack that sits about 7% below the $2.93 billion it cost.

Strive bought 3,311 bitcoin between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9 at an average of about $84,500 per coin, roughly $280 million in total and its largest purchase since January. The Nasdaq-listed company, which trades as ASST, reported the increase in an 8-K filed Oct. 13: holdings rose from 29,462 bitcoin on Oct. 2 to 32,773 on Oct. 9. That stack is worth about $2.73 billion.

The new coins were bought below the average Strive has paid across the whole position. CoinGecko's treasury page lists the 32,773 bitcoin as acquired for $2.93 billion, an average of $89,439 per coin, and a position 7.1% below cost, for $206.88 million in unrealized loss.

Strive's October Buying Picked Up Week by Week

Strive's own filings map the pace, and the most recent week was the biggest of the three.

The middle week's 2,000 coins cost about $84,422 each, bought between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2, and were the largest addition since 2,500 bitcoin bought May 23 to June 1. Before that, a $94.5 million purchase in late September pushed the stack past 27,000, and the $169 million spent earlier in October was described at the time as the largest buy in four months.

The 3,311 coins are the biggest single increase since January, when the all-stock merger with Semler Scientific added about 5,048 bitcoin.

32,773 Bitcoin Sits Below Strive's Blended Cost

The filings show the layers under that average. Strive held 28,000 bitcoin at an average cost of $90,170 as of Sept. 30, per its Oct. 5 filing, after acquiring 8,137 bitcoin in the three months ended Sept. 30 at an average of $78,885.

Bitcoin traded at $83,236, down 2.78%, when the purchase was reported, below the price Strive paid for the new coins and well below the blended cost. Accounts of the average purchase price differ: about $84,500 per coin including fees, and about $82,300 in another.

SATA Supplies the Capital, and the Dividend Bill

The week's balance sheet moved with the buying. Strive's SATA preferred stock rose from 13,498,082 shares to 14,030,176, and cash and equivalents went from $284.7 million to $310.3 million, per the same 8-K. Class A common stock rose from 91,708,804 to 101,169,907 shares, and shares underlying traditional warrants fell from 23,249,706 to 15,255,900. Strive also holds 505,000 shares of Strategy's STRC preferred stock, valued at $50.3 million.

SATA carries a $100 stated amount and a 13.00% dividend rate. Strive's treasury dashboard puts the annual dividend obligation at $182.39 million against a treasury asset value of $3.08 billion, which it translates into 16.9 years of dividend coverage. The next distribution is $0.0516 per share on Oct. 14, and the effective yield is 13.10% at a market price of $99.25. A Nevada certificate of amendment made the $100 minimum sale price for new SATA shares a binding restriction rather than a stated policy.

Where 32,773 Bitcoin Sits Among Public Treasuries

Bitcoin Treasuries ranks Strive fifth among public holders, behind Strategy, Twenty One Capital, Metaplanet and MARA, with Twenty One at 43,514 bitcoin. One tally of the same group puts Strategy at 848,250 bitcoin, Metaplanet at 44,000, Twenty One at 43,514 and MARA at 35,577, leaving Strive about 2,800 coins behind MARA. CoinGecko's tracker counts it eighth, with 0.156% of Bitcoin's supply.

Chief executive Matt Cole has said he wants to finish 2026 as the world's second-largest public Bitcoin holder. Metaplanet is 11,227 bitcoin, or $937.5 million, ahead, and closing that gap by year-end would need about 990 bitcoin a week if Metaplanet buys no more.

Peers kept buying. Strategy added $21.5 million in Bitcoin while buying back preferred stock, a week in which it added 250 bitcoin. DeFi Development Corp kept accumulating SOL and Bitmine kept stacking Ethereum, though Bitmine chairman Tom Lee said that company is nearly finished buying and will halt once it holds 5% of Ethereum's supply. Metaplanet announced almost ¥52 billion ($328.85 million) of zero-coupon convertible bonds on Oct. 13, with ¥23.6 billion for repaying existing borrowings and up to ¥28.3 billion for buybacks. Its holdings stood at 44,000 bitcoin at the end of September.
