Sui Hits 40.6M TPS in Basecamp Test as Samsung Adds USDC

Sui hit 40.6 million TPS in a Basecamp test run inside offchain tunnels, and Samsung Wallet will carry USDC on Sui to 82 million US Galaxy devices.

The number came first. Sui reported 40,614,180 transactions per second in a live stress test on the Summit Stage at Sui Basecamp in Singapore on Oct. 7, a session held this year alongside Token2049 Singapore, against its own 20 million TPS target. The demonstration was led by Adeniyi Abiodun, Mysten Labs co-founder and chief product officer, and verified in real time by independent auditor CertiK.

The 40.6 Million TPS Came From Offchain Tunnels

The result is more than six times the 6,086,766 TPS Sui reported on July 4, and both were measured inside Sui tunnels: programmable offchain state and payment channels that settle to Sui mainnet. The count measures activity inside those tunnels, not 40 million transactions executed directly on the chain. During the test, more than 10,000 tunnels opened on Sui mainnet within seconds of each other, all offchain and gasless.

CertiK will examine proofs, execution logs, journals and supporting evidence and publish a report in the coming days. Abiodun framed the throughput as a settlement story rather than a capacity one:

"In an agentic economy, Sui doesn't need to process every interaction. It needs to be the trust layer for all of them."

Samsung Wallet Carries USDC on Sui, Not SUI

The second Basecamp announcement is the one with users attached. The Sui Foundation says Samsung Wallet is integrating Sui, bringing USDC on Sui to 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices. USDC is the only supported asset at launch and the SUI token is not supported in Samsung Wallet, and gasless transfers mean a user does not need to buy or hold SUI to send it. The service will initially roll out in the U.S. before expanding to additional markets.

The rails are not new. Native USDC went live on Sui in 2024, followed by Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol integration, and gasless stablecoin transfers went live on mainnet in May 2026 with USDC among the supported assets, costing $0.00 at the network level. Sui says the network has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025.

Two quotes carry the pitch. Abiodun said stablecoins have proven dollars can move globally in seconds, and the next step is making that experience available where people already are. Woncheol Chai, executive vice president and head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience business, said:

"Samsung Wallet is about making useful experiences feel simple and intuitive."

Verifiable Agent Arbiter Aims at AI Logging Rules

Mysten Labs, with Google Cloud, announced Verifiable Agent Arbiter, an evidence layer co-developed so enterprises can prove their AI agents acted within the authority they were granted. Detailed telemetry, including prompts, model outputs, tool calls and policy decisions, stays private in customer-controlled Google Cloud Storage. Cryptographic proofs of that record are stored on Walrus and coordinated on Sui.

The commercial hook is compliance. VAA is designed to help companies meet upcoming requirements including the EU AI Act, which from 2027 introduces penalties of up to 15 million euros or 3% of global annual turnover for logging failures. It connects to the Sui Agent Payments facilitator, which settles payments for API calls using the x402 protocol, and supports dispute replay across companies when agents transact through the Agent2Agent protocol developed by Google Cloud and donated to the Linux Foundation. Initial deployments with enterprise customers are planned ahead of broader availability.

Evan Cheng, co-founder and CEO of Mysten Labs, on why he says the layer is needed:

"AI agents are starting to make decisions with financial and legal consequences, and we need systems to ensure they cannot exceed their authority. This requires evidence any counterparty can verify."

What the Three Announcements Do Not Settle

Keep the three apart. The 40.6 million TPS figure is tunnel throughput that settles to Sui, so it describes offchain capacity rather than mainnet execution. The Samsung work expands access to stablecoin infrastructure: USDC is the only asset at launch, SUI is not supported, and sending dollars does not require holding the token. VAA is planned, with enterprise deployments ahead of general availability.

The dated items are narrow. CertiK's report on the throughput test is due in the coming days, and Samsung's expansion beyond the U.S. has no date yet, with Sui saying it follows the initial U.S. rollout.
