$1000 in XRP, Sui, or SOL: Best Altcoin for 2025?

For the last 2 days, the crypto market has been a sea of red.

So the question that I faced was if I only had $1000, where would I choose to invest right now during the dip? Will it be XRP, SUI, or Solana? In this article, you will get to know which altcoin I picked and why.

The Bull Case for XRP

We’ve been hitting on XRP a lot recently. Only yesterday did we hit on 3 reasons XRP can go to the moon.

• SEC Case

And the biggest of those reasons, the SEC case, is a big deal. No lawsuit hanging over them anymore and regulatory clarity for them and the industry in the US are 2 big pluses for Ripple. No question about it.

• RLUSD

$RLUSD is Ripple’s stablecoin. In Europe in 2025, MICA regulations will be monitoring the industry. Under MICA, USDT is non-compliant. The result is delisting on many exchanges that serve European customers.

And for now, USDT’s loss is $RLUSD’s gain. Since $RLUSD is already compliant in the US, most expect it to comply with MICA in Europe, too. $RLUSD volume is crushing it lately. It crossed $600 million in total volume in record time.

RLUSD and the growing use of the XRP Ledger especially by governments is a big reason to be bullish on XRP in 2025.

The Bull Case for Sui

Here’s another coin we’ve been hitting hard lately. Sui. They are hitting on all cylinders. Here’s a recent video we did on some of their Ecosystem Gems. Here are a couple of other reasons we still love Sui:

• Sui DeFi

As much as we like Sui and as often as we cover it, one area we don’t hit on enough is DeFi. Sui now has $40 BILLION in perpetual DEX volume. The market has found them and loves them. A new record of $2 billion in TVL across Sui is more evidence of DeFi lovers finding what they need on Sui. It only took 3 months after hitting $1 billion. The growth is explosive.

Sui is the #8 chain in TVL, with far fewer protocols than other leading chains. And they are the fastest growing chain in TVL, among the top 10 in the last week, up 30%. Suilend leads in TVL, with Navi Protocol in a close 2nd. Both are lending platforms, and you can also earn by putting your Sui into liquidity pools.

• Branching out to DePIN and AI

One of the newest projects in the Sui ecosystem is one of the boldest. SuiDePIN just had its IDO recently. Projects can take advantage of Sui and the Move programming language’s unique benefits. Benefits like saving big chunks of unstructured data cheaply in a DePIN environment. It’s already at record highs and has partnerships and grant money from Aethir and Amazon’s AWS.

And for AI, Sui is just barely starting to scratch the surface of what it can do. Listen to this short clip from co-founder of Mysten Labs Adeniyi Abiodun to see the role Sui will play in the future of decentralized AI. As Abiodun says, even the more centralized OpenAI type of models will need this coordination to bring agents to life and have them truly be autonomous to work for us.

And in case you were wondering, Sui’s first AI Agent, Agent S is live and now trades on OKX, too. All this is to say nothing about Sui’s accomplishments in gaming and other areas. It’s all these things together that make us so bullish.

The Bull Case for Solana

Our last choice for today is Solana. We’ve been hitting them hard recently, too. Here are a couple of reasons.

• Solana DeFi

Solana DeFi is making huge moves forward. And it’s not just to support the memecoin market. Although DeFi is still mostly Ethereum and EVM and then everyone else, Solana is now the solid #2 in TVL at almost $10 billion. It also has the most active addresses over the last 24 hours.

Among the leading DeFi platforms, you have Jupiter and Raydium for swapping those memecoins while the leader in TVL is liquid staking platform Jito. Whether you like memecoins or not, what’s proving true is that the huge volumes in them daily are ways to test the Solana blockchain as well as minting, burning, swapping, trading, and lending protocols. And they are all benefitting from Solana’s explosive network growth.

• Solana Chain Collaborations

Another thing we love about Solana is its willingness to collaborate with other chains. Especially with Sui and with Bitcoin. The Sui partnership is growing daily to the benefit of both networks. Leading wallet Phantom is integrating with Sui any time now. Backpack is too. SuiDePIN is already active on both chains. More protocols will go live on both.

And Zeus is making big moves to bring liquidity to Bitcoin holders through Solana. This doesn’t even hit on the memecoin argument or other areas where Solana is proving a viable alternative to Ethereum.

The Verdict

So you’ve seen the case for all 3. I’ll sum it up like this:

• If you believe in the growth of CBDCs and the possible need for USDT alternatives, then XRP is a good choice.
• If you believe in an alt Layer 1 alternative to Ethereum where you have active DeFi, AI, DePIN, and gaming markets, then Sui is a good choice.   OR
• If you believe in the fastest-growing DeFi chain, amazing collaborations, and the quick iterations and improvements that come with lots of memecoin transactions, then Solana is your best bet.

Of these 3 main arguments, I think USDT’s issues are temporary. So that would put XRP third on my list, but I still expect it to grow and be successful. Since the other 2 chains are doing so much together, I think the Solana-Sui axis will eventually overtake Ethereum as the #1 smart contract chain. So I am going to split my money with $500 each into Solana and Sui.
