Aave Supply Tops $31B as Coinbase Tokenized Stocks Head to Aave V4

Aave total supplied assets have climbed above $31 billion, while Coinbase Tokenized Stocks are set to expand the protocol's lending options through Aave V4 on Base.

Aave is seeing renewed growth in onchain lending, with total supplied assets climbing back above $31 billion, according to data shared by market intelligence platform MSB Intel. The figure represents an increase of nearly 23% over the past 30 days, highlighting growing activity across the Aave ecosystem.

The milestone comes as Aave prepares for another major expansion: Coinbase Tokenized Stocks are set to become available through Aave V4 on Base, potentially allowing eligible users outside the United States to lend tokenized equities and borrow stablecoins against them.

Aave Deposits Climb Back Above $31 Billion

Aave founder Stani Kulechov had earlier highlighted that deposits on the protocol had crossed the $30 billion mark.

The latest move above $31 billion suggests that capital is continuing to flow into the protocol.

For Aave, the growth is particularly interesting because it comes as the protocol expands beyond crypto-native collateral. Aave's ecosystem has increasingly been exploring how tokenized real-world assets could be integrated into decentralized lending markets.

That trend is now becoming more visible on Base.

Coinbase Tokenized Stocks Are Coming to Aave V4

Aave announced that Coinbase Tokenized Stocks will be coming to Aave V4 on Base. According to the announcement, the product will only be available in eligible jurisdictions outside the United States.

The integration could allow users to supply Coinbase tokenized stocks to Aave and borrow stablecoins against their holdings.

Stani Kulechov described the development as a new type of onchain credit line backed by tokenized equities.

The idea is relatively straightforward: instead of holding a tokenized stock purely as an investment, eligible users could potentially use it as collateral while maintaining exposure to the underlying asset.

This is one of the broader advantages tokenization could bring to DeFi. Traditional assets that normally sit inside brokerage accounts can become programmable and usable within lending, borrowing and other onchain applications.

Coinbase's tokenized stocks are issued on Base and backed 1:1 by underlying shares held in regulated custody. They are designed to be used across the Base DeFi ecosystem, with lending against tokenized equities being one of the use cases highlighted by both Coinbase and Base.

Why This Matters for Tokenized Assets

The Aave integration connects two major trends currently developing in crypto: DeFi lending and tokenized real-world assets.

Coinbase's initial tokenized stock offering includes major U.S. equities and is aimed at eligible users outside restricted jurisdictions. The assets are designed to operate as standard onchain tokens, allowing them to move across compatible DeFi applications rather than remaining locked inside a traditional brokerage system.

Aave has already been preparing its V4 deployment on Base, with governance discussions specifically pointing to tokenized equities and other real-world assets as a potential area for specialized lending markets.

The combination could therefore give tokenized stocks a more practical use case: holding equities onchain while also accessing liquidity through stablecoin borrowing.

The expansion comes as tokenized real-world assets continue to gain traction across multiple blockchain networks.

Aave and Base Push Further Into Onchain Finance

The development also fits into the broader growth of tokenized assets across the crypto industry.

Coinbase and Base are positioning tokenized stocks as assets that can be traded, transferred and used as collateral around the clock. To support this type of DeFi activity, continuous market pricing infrastructure is also being added for tokenized equities.

For Aave, crossing $31 billion in supplied assets while preparing for tokenized stock integration shows how the protocol's lending model is continuing to expand beyond traditional crypto collateral.

The next step will be watching how much demand develops once Coinbase Tokenized Stocks become available on Aave V4.
