Altcoin BULL RUN!! Solana SOL vs SUI vs HYPE

The next leg of this altcoin bull run is heating up. Bitcoin briefly reclaimed $100,000 price tag. Come this Monday, we will witness Trump’s inauguration. This could well turn into a big deal for the crypto sector. There’s also plenty of talk about Executive Orders that he will sign on Monday. The moment he’s back in the White House, there could be plenty of Executive Orders waiting for him, including some about the crypto sector.

So, exciting days ahead. This could well be the start of the next altcoin bull run leg. If so, which of these three tokens will perform best? Solana ($SOL), Sui Network ($SUI), or Hyperliquid ($HYPE)? Let’s take a closer look.

Solana ($SOL)

Solana ($SOL) has been around since 2018. Its mainnet went live in 2020. Solana immediately brought something to the table that caught everyone’s attention. Low transaction fees and it was fast. It was an early alternative to the $50-$100 transaction fees you paid on Ethereum. If you remember these days, you’re becoming an OG.

This paid off handsomely for Solana. It was the start of the 2021 bull run with a 17,100% price increase. However, don’t expect the same during this altcoin bull run. Solana’s market cap is now too big to repeat that. Nonetheless, a $1,000 price tag is not unrealistic. That will be a 5x from the current $SOL price of $202. 

Be aware of a big token unlock on 1st of March though. There will be a 112 million $SOL unlock that’s currently worth $225 billion. This may cause short-term volatility. However, for the longer term, $SOL should do fine. So far it has underperformed a bit, but its fundamentals are as strong as ever. 

There are also new features on the horizon. For example, Firedancer. That’s Solana’s new validator client. Solana should even become faster and more decentralized. Once it is live, it can handle up to 1 million TPS or transactions per second. Solana’s massive ecosystem is also doing well. Solana remains one of the top contenders in this bull run.

Sui Network ($SUI)

Now, let’s take a look at Solana’s potential heir for the 2025 bull run, Sui Network ($SUI). Sui is firing on all cylinders. Like most other coins, $SUI’s price has been going sideways during the last 30 days. However, $SUI is only 13% away from its recent ATH of $5.35. I can see it burn this in a flash, once we go up again.

There’s also a non-stop stream of positive news coming from Sui and its ecosystem. That’s most certainly a prerequisite to become Solana’s heir. For example,

• Mysticeti V2 is coming soon. That’s their consensus protocol, in an updated version.
  

Sui’s DeFi has been killing it. Its TVL reached $2 billion only a few days ago, and it keeps growing. This puts Sui in 9th position of all chains. 

An important factor is the growing interest of institutions for Sui. For instance, VanEck sees $SUI hit $10 during Q1. 

There are plenty of TGE’s and airdrops in Sui’s ecosystem. Bucket Protocol had the most recent event and the Kriya DEX TGE and airdrop is coming up any moment. 

Walrus, a storage platform, will soon see its mainnet and token go live.

Here’s another thing that makes Sui’s ecosystem interesting. All its projects still have relatively small market caps. This offers plenty of growth opportunities. Make sure to make the most out of this. Check our recent video about how many $SUI you need to become a millionaire.

Hyperliquid ($HYPE)

With Hyperliquid ($HYPE) we’re in the DeFi camp. It is part of the DeFi 3.0 wave. This means that it makes DeFi more accessible, efficient, and sustainable. It has been around since early 2023. However, its $HYPE token didn’t launch until late November 2024.

Hyperliquid managed in one effort to set a new standard for airdrops. The average airdrop was around $28.500 per wallet. Each wallet received an average of 2,915 $HYPE. With a $9.80 price tag on 1st December, you can do the math.

The most amazing part of this airdrop is, that Hyperliquid is completely, 100% self-funded. In other words, there was not and there will never be selling pressure by VCs. The new $HYPE holders held on to their new tokens and the price did a 5x in only 3 days. 

Hyperliquid is a perps DEX, and these are popular. They also allow you to use leverage. Other names that you may be familiar with are dYdX or GMX. These are also perp DEXes. In short, perpetual contracts are financial instruments. They allow you to speculate on the price of an asset without owning it. 

The current $HYPE price is $23.81. After its $35 ATH, there was some expected profit-taking. However, there’s still plenty of room to grow for $HYPE. 

So, if I need to pick one of these three, it’s going to be between Sui and Hyperliquid. Looking at their respective market caps, that’s where the most growth is possible. As a single project, I may pick Hyperliquid, but it’s a close call. However, from an ecosystem perspective, Sui wins in my book hands down. What is your take on this?
