ETF analysts say the SEC could approve new crypto ETFs, including Solana and crypto index funds, as early as July

For many, the term “ETF” might sound technical. But, it’s a fund that tracks the value of assets and is traded on stock exchanges like a regular stock. Crypto ETFs allow investors to gain exposure to digital assets without directly buying or storing cryptocurrencies.
This July, the SEC is expected to decide on several ETF applications. This includes those tracking Solana (SOL), Ether staking, and baskets of multiple cryptocurrencies. Bloomberg analysts give a 90 percent chance that at least some of these products will be approved, with Solana likely leading the way. Fund giants like Grayscale and Bitwise have already filed to launch ETFs that would offer investors diversified exposure to the crypto market, making it easier and safer for both beginners and seasoned investors to participate.
A real-world example highlights the impact: After the SEC approved spot Bitcoin ETFs earlier this year, assets in crypto funds surged 40% to $167 billion in May. Driven by $7 billion in net inflows. This influx was largely from institutional investors who previously sat on the sidelines due to regulatory uncertainty. If altcoin ETFs follow suit, the entire crypto market could see a similar boost. In liquidity, accessibility, and price stability.
The rush of ETF filings—72 in 2025 alone, a 300% jump from last year—signals Wall Street’s growing appetite for digital assets. Solana and XRP lead the pack, accounting for over half of these applications. Analysts believe that these new ETFs, especially those tracking a bundle of cryptocurrencies, will appeal to investors who want broad exposure without picking individual winners.
Recent trends show that regulatory clarity is a key driver for institutional and retail participation. The SEC’s willingness to consider staking and index products, and its request for issuers to clarify procedures, points to a more open stance than in previous years.
