Arbitrum Launches Converge: A New Era for DeFi and RWAs

This new chain, built by Ethena Labs and Securitize, is designed to be the settlement layer for on-chain finance and RWAs. Celestia provides the underlying infrastructure.

Converge, with its focus on speed, scalability, and flexibility, aims to revolutionize on-chain finance. It promises to bring $7 billion worth of dollarized assets like USDe and BlackRock BUIDL into the world of DeFi.

Customizing DeFi with Converge’s New Features

The primary goal of Converge is to offer a customized, fast, and efficient environment for decentralized applications (dApps) and finance. With Arbitrum at its core, Converge is optimizing for ultra-low latency and scalability. The platform introduces native gas tokens—USDe and USDtb—ensuring smooth and cost-efficient transactions. One of the standout features of Converge is its 100ms blocks, a notable speed improvement. Even faster blocks are on the way, promising even better performance for developers and users alike.

Converge will also utilize a validator network running on sENA, backed by Celestia’s modular architecture, ensuring strong security and decentralization. This makes it easier to connect and settle transactions across multiple blockchains. In addition to serving as a settlement layer for Ethereum-based assets, Converge is also planning to support other application chains, further enhancing its utility in the DeFi ecosystem.

One of the most exciting updates on Converge is the upcoming Stylus upgrade. This upgrade will allow developers to deploy smart contracts not just in Solidity (Ethereum’s native programming language), but also in Rust, C, and C++. By supporting these additional programming languages, Converge gives developers the flexibility to build more efficient and optimized applications.

More About Arbitrum

Arbitrum has officially launched Timeboost, a new feature now live on both Arbitrum One and Nova, aimed at improving network efficiency and user protection. By discouraging latency races—where bots compete to be first in line—Timeboost helps reduce network congestion, making the ecosystem smoother for everyone.

It also introduces a new potential revenue stream for the Arbitrum DAO, creating long-term value for the community. Importantly, Timeboost keeps users safe from harmful tactics like front-running and sandwich attacks, thanks to its private mempool system that keeps transactions hidden until confirmed.
