Betting on SUI or SOLANA? My Honest 2025 Crypto Analysis
Both Sui and Solana are strong projects with good fundamentals. However, which one will outperform the other one during this coming bull run?

Here’s a high-stakes Battle of the Big Caps for you. Today, I’m putting Sui head-to-head with Solana. Today you will find out who is the true crypto king among them. They are both fast and secure blockchains with low transaction fees.
But, which one has the best chance to explode and do a massive run this year? Will Solana be able to replicate its 2021 run, or is Sui the Solana of 2021? Find out the differences between Sui and Solana. Stay with me to see which one I will pick as the winner. You don’t want to miss out on this.
The Case for Solana ($SOL)
Solana was the 2021 bull run darling. Between 2021 and 2022 $SOL jumped from $1.5 to $260. That’s a 173x. No wonder everybody liked Solana, those are massive gains. For the new kid on the block, definitely not bad, since Solana only launched in 2020.
So, now we’re one bull run further down the line. Solana is now a well-respected layer 1 chain with a massive ecosystem. It also takes 6th spot measured by market cap.
Furthermore, Solana managed to improve on one of its weaker points, namely uptime. Since October 2022, the chain only halted twice. That used to be different, so, yes, that’s an improvement.
This is also crucial, since Solana is now in the crosshairs of institutions. For example, Solana already has a staking ETF since early July. On its first day, it generated a volume of $33 million. There are also various Solana spot ETFs in the making. Furthermore, there are various firms that are considering or already have a $SOL treasury.
RWAs on Solana
Another, recent, massive new feature was the introduction of xStocks on Solana. This allows you to trade tokenized stocks 24/7 on Solana DeFi platforms. So, no middlemen take a cut of the action. This also gives a massive boost to RWAs on Solana. These are up 140% YTD. And that’s not only xStocks (tokenized equities), but also,
- Tokenized treasuries. By the likes of Ondo, BlackRock, or Franklin Templeton.
- Private credit. Offered by Apollo, Maple, or Credix.
- Physical assets and commodities. You can find these on MetaWealth, Collector Crypt, or Baxus.
Memecoins on Solana
There was also the recent launch of the $PUMP token. Solana is the king of the memecoins. That’s regardless if you like them or not. So, there’s a stiff competition going on between LetsBonk and Pumpfun.
Check out our recent article. You can also visit my recent video on the $PUMP TGE. Whether it’s going to make you a millionaire, or is it rather a scam?
So, as you can see, there’s plenty going on at Solana. It also has a leading role in DeFi and a massive NFT sector.
The Case for Sui ($SUI)
So, let’s switch to Sui. I will show you what Sui has going on for itself. However, first you want to check out my recent Sui ecosystem video. Well, let’s start with Sui’s DeFi. Keep in mind that Sui didn’t launch until 2 years ago. Nonetheless, now it ranks 8th in TVL out of all chains. It even outperforms Hyperliquid.
Bluefin is one of the stronger platforms here. It’s the leading perps exchange on Sui and comes in 4th spot with TVL. Now, BTCFi is a big thing on Sui. Make your $BTC work for you. Well, Bluefin launched $tBTC on its platform.
Suilend, a lending and borrowing protocol, is another one to keep an eye out for. Whilst $BTC did a 4.7% pullback today, $LEND is up 16% up on the day.
Momentum is currently the up-and-coming DeFi platform on Sui. If you’re interested in airdrops, make sure to use this protocol.

Walrus Protocol
Walrus is another key platform in the Sui ecosystem. This is the future for digital storage. Grayscale recently did a deep dive into Sui, and it highlighted Walrus in its report. Grayscale is an American digital currency asset management company. The report points out that Walrus is up to 80% cheaper compared to its competitors. A second airdrop is also imminent for Walrus.
On a different note, Sui surpassed the 12-month gains of Bitcoin, gold, the S&P 500, QQQ, and Coinbase. There’s also a non-stop new user base onboarding. Sui now has well over 230 million accounts.
Sui keeps hitting other ATHs in various other metrics. For instance, in TVL, stablecoin market cap, or token volume. Sui and its ecosystem are truly on fire. During Bitcoin’s recent run, $SUI and its ecosystem tokens did well. Many were up in double digits.
Sui has lots of activity. For example, dev activity is increasing, they keep building. Another sector where to keep a finger on the pulse is gaming. Olympian Games just joined the ecosystem. The big news is the shipping of the SuiPlay0x1. That’s scheduled for September.
The Verdict
So, now we get down to the nitty-gritty. Who is the winner of this Battle of the Big Caps. We see two fundamentally strong layer 1 chains with good and strong ecosystems.
Solana ($SOL)
Solana ($SOL) is the more established chain. It has a bigger ecosystem. It also has a huge and active developer and user community. Due to its history, it also has deep liquidity and a proven track record. It has strong roots in the DeFi and NFT sectors, with a new angle into ETFs.
So, Solana is a more stable and a lower risk play. A safer bet, so to speak. However, I don’t expect Solana to do another 137x. That is not going to happen. $600 is realistic, and I see $800 as the top for $SOL. That’s still a good 4x to 5x from here, at the current price of $160. The one thing I don’t like about $SOL is its unlimited supply.
Sui ($SUI)
With Sui, we have a younger chain and project. I would say that Sui is more innovative. For example, with its object-centric architecture. However, because it’s newer, it also has less liquidity. Although, with all due respect, that’s building fast. During Bitcoin’s recent uptick, the Sui ecosystem outpaced the Solana ecosystem easily.
Also, the regular $SUI token unlocks are a weak point. However, the market seems to absorb them easily. So, at $3.90, $SUI is still a good buy. The minimum top I expect is around $15 for $SUI. That’s a 4x from here.
The Grayscale report also shows that $SUI is one of the best-performing assets during the last year. It has a 206% lead on Solana. See the picture below.

So, for the short-term, Solana is the safer bet. But it has less upside potential compared to Sui. For the long-term, I can see Sui closing the gap. However, it needs to keep performing like it does. Sui’s innovation may be a key factor here.
