Rektdrop is the genesis airdrop for EVMOS. Through this drop, the project aims to reward its active users of the Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems.
The account snapshot for the Rektdrop was taken on November 25th, 2021 at 19: 00 UTC and about 100 million EVMOS tokens have been airdropped to 2 million eligible addresses. In this article, you will learn more about EVMOS and Rektdrop.
Who Are Eligible For the Rektdrop Airdrop?
Here is the list of eligible users:
- Cosmos Hub Users (ATOM Governance Prop 44 voters, ATOM Delegators).
- Osmosis Users (OSMO Delegators, OSMO/ATOM LPs, OSMO/AKT, ATOM/AKT LPs, ION Holders, IBC Token Transfers, and Ethereum (AAVE, Uniswap, SushiSwap, Compound, etc).
- EVM Bridges (Arbitrum, Wormhole, Optics, Polygon, Avalanche, etc).

There is $150 MILLION dollars of the $EVMOS airdrop that is still unclaimed

What Is EVMOS?
EVMOS is a Proof-of-Stake blockchain that offers scalability, fast finality, and high throughput. Also, it’s compatible and interoperable with Ethereum, which is built using the Cosmos SDK and runs on top of the Tendermint Core consensus engine. Thus, making it able to interact with other blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem via the Inter Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
Access The EVMOS Platform
Visit the EVMOS website. Now, click on Connect Wallet button. You will get options to connect to two wallets:
- Keplr
- Metamask
We will cover the guide with Metamask wallet. So, connect the EVMOS platform with your Metamask wallet (also to an account), and set the network to EVMOS.
Now, check whether the particular connected account is eligible for claiming Rektdrop. The Rektdrop is based upon your activity on Ethereum or Cosmos/Osmosis network. To check this, we will now move to the EVMOS website.
How to Apply for the Rektdrop Airdrop
Once you connect your wallet, you will directly land on the Mission Control page. Here you can check whether you have received any Rektdrop.
As you can see from the below screenshot, we have received some Rektdrop (check the field Airdrop Amount). However, if this field is zero, then your connected account is not eligible for Rektdrop.
We will now start claiming our airdrop.
How to Claim in the Rektdrop Airdrop
To claim your Rektdrop, click on the CLAIM button appearing above. It will take you to the Claim Rektdrop tab. Here, you will see the below functions that users need to perform to claim their EVMOS tokens. Each of these actions will reward you with 25% of the airdrop and will make you familiar with the EVMOS ecosystem.
- Stake Your Token (25%)
- Vote On a Governance Proposal (25%)
- Execute an IBC Transfer (25%)
- Use The EVM
We will now explain each of the above functions in detail with working steps.
-
Stake your Tokens on EVMOS
Users can stake 25% of their tokens to network validators. And in return, you will receive rewards.
To stake your tokens, click on the Stake button. The application will show you the list of all network validators to whom you can delegate your tokens. Below is the list of network validators. Select your preferred validator, and click on Manage against it to delegate your tokens.
Note, that some tokens will be reserved by the application for paying the gas fees. Hence, you won’t be able to stake all your balance. Then, click on the Delegate button. A window will appear where you can enter the amount of the EVMOS token that you can stake.
If you are having issues with staking, then try to send some 0.2 EVMOS tokens to your Metamask and stake 0.1 EVMOS first. We have encountered the same situation and proceeded with it similarly.
As you can see from the below screenshot, we have first transferred 0.2 EVMOS to our Metamask wallet and staked 0.1 EVMOS. After that, the EVMOS balance is shown in the Available Balance field. We are now able to stake the remaining 12.55 EVMOS.
This will trigger a Metamask transaction that you need to confirm. Once it is successful, you can see your staked token details from the dashboard.
-
Vote On A Governance Proposal in EVMOS
In addition, users now need to go to the second claiming option i.e Vote On A Governance Proposal. Once you click on the Vote button, you will be redirected to the Governance portal where you can see all the ongoing/active proposals. These proposals are related to any on-chain change/update and have been submitted to the community for voting. Users can either vote for (positive) or against, and the proposals are implemented accordingly.
As you can see from the below screenshot, there is one active proposal.
Then, click on Voting. It will take you to the page where you can check the proposal description and other mandatory details. Next, click on Vote, and you will get various options to cast your vote.
-
Execute An IBC Transfer
This step requires you to perform a cross-chain transfer between different blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem. Users can perform an Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) transaction by transferring any amount of EVMOS tokens to the Osmosis address.
Moreover, for this process, you need to have the supporting Keplr installed in your system. If not, then first install the Keplr wallet before executing the transaction. Then, click on Transfer (on the Claim tab), and you can see the below screen.
Note: If the Keplr wallet is not installed in your system, then the Import button will be enabled (and the Transport button will be disabled). Then, you have to install Keplr first to make the Transfer button enabled.
Now, finally, click on the Transfer Button. It will ask you to establish a connection with your Osmosis wallet. Approve the connection.
Then, once done, you can check the status of your IBC claim transaction in the EVMOS portal.
-
Use the EVM
On the other hand, in the next and final step, users need to use any of the EVMOS applications. Also, you can scroll down the Mission Control page, and check the list of applications available on EVMOS. Then, users can access any application to claim the remaining 25% tokens.
For example, we tried to connect with the Cronus Finance platform. And performed a simple Swap activity.
Then, once you finish the Swap process, the remaining 25% will be claimed. Moreover, you can check your claim completion status from the dashboard.
Finally, and the desired EVMOS token in your connected Metamask wallet.
