Is Babylon a good investment?

Today, we’re reviewing a brand new exciting project that’s involved in building a strong native use case for $BTC.

Enter Babylon, a project that’s powering Web 3 with trustless $BTC staking. Is this project a good investment with its fundamentals and narrative? Let’s take a deep dive below.

What Is Babylon?

This project enables $BTC staking. $BTC is a Proof-of-Work (PoW) chain. So natively, you can’t stake $BTC on its network. But with Babylon, you can do so through its dApp. The benefit of doing so is that you’ll earn a steady 1.23% yearly return (as of now). But, what is going on in the background?

Well, with this staked $BTC, nodes sign blocks for connected PoS chains (or Bitcoin-Secured Networks – BSNs). This makes attacking these nodes much more expensive with $BTC’s economic weight behind it. PoS chains/BSNs can “rent” these $BTC for block signing, without inflating their tokens. All of this is coordinated by Babylon’s own Cosmos SDK Layer 1 (L1) blockchain.

Today, Babylon has amassed a total of 48,123 $BTC – a staggering TVL of ~ $5 billion. The project has also raised over $96 million from VCs, including Binance Labs, Paradigm, OKX Ventures, and more

$BABY – Babylon’s Native Token

The $BABY token ranks #296 in Mcap rank, with an Mcap of $228 million and an FDV of $994 million. This makes $K a low to mid-cap token. Its recent ATH price was at $0.16 during its launch back in early April 2025. The price has since fallen to its current $0.099 level.

Use Cases

The $BABY token has multiple use cases as per below:

• Pays for transaction fees and smart contract execution.
• Governance.
• Staking – $BABY stakers share rewards from security and gas fees.

From the above, we can see that $BABY has good utility as its demand is tied to the growth of the Babylon project.

Tokenomics & Vesting

For its token allocation, we can see below that 33% goes to ecosystem and community, 30.5% to investors, 18% to R&D, and 18.5% goes to Team and Advisors. In terms of token allocation, this isn’t the best, as we feel too much has been allocated to investors.

However, the team makes it up by setting vestings for most of its allocations from April 2026 onwards. A larger amount will unlock at first, but then, monthly small releases will take over. This prevents any large supply shock after April 2026.

If we were to enter a position now, the key date to look out for would be 10 April 2026, when all the major token releases are scheduled.

• David Tse – Stanford professor and renowned expert in information theory, member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering
• MingChao Yu – PhD, cryptographer and telecommunications expert, ex-Senior Staff engineer at Dolby Laboratories
• Xinshu Dong – co-founder of RockX and Zilliqa, and serves as a technical partner of IOSG Ventures

Is Babylon A Good Investment?

In terms of its catalysts, Babylon has a lot in its pipeline. They’re working with Sui to integrate it as one of the newest BSNs by late 2025. However, other projects, such as the Portal network and the Jackal protocol, are looking to become BSNs with Babylon as well. In the latter half of 2025, Babylon is looking to expand its staking service to multi-chain.

Moreover, Babylon provides a very unique use case in the crypto space. Considering that supply shocks are only coming in next April, $BABY could prove to be a good buy in the short term.
