U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have broken their nine-session inflow streak, recording $201.8 million in net outflows Friday as Bitcoin slipped below $78,000.

The reversal came after more than $3 billion flowed into the funds during the previous nine trading sessions. Despite Friday’s selling, August remains a strong month for Bitcoin ETFs, with cumulative net inflows reaching about $3.3 billion with one U.S. trading session remaining.

Total assets held by the funds also dropped back below $100 billion after briefly crossing that threshold Thursday.

ARK 21Shares Leads Bitcoin ETF Outflows

The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) recorded the largest withdrawal Friday, with $114.9 million leaving the fund.

The Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) followed with $49.7 million in outflows, while BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), the largest spot Bitcoin ETF by assets, saw $33.4 million withdrawn.

Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust was the only fund among the group to record a net inflow, adding $9.3 million.

The reversal highlights how quickly ETF flows can change when Bitcoin loses momentum after a strong run.

Bitcoin ETFs Lose Ground as Altcoin Funds Keep Attracting Capital

Bitcoin's ETF weakness was not reflected across the entire crypto ETF market.

U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs attracted $102.2 million Friday, extending their recent run of positive flows. The funds have continued to attract capital even as Bitcoin ETFs experienced their first major outflow day in more than a week.

This follows the recent surge in demand for Ethereum ETFs, which recorded $225.8 million in inflows in a single session in the strongest day for the funds in 10 months.

XRP ETFs also remained positive, recording $26.2 million in net inflows Friday.

Solana ETFs have shown particularly strong resilience. The category has accumulated approximately $1.7 billion in inflows without experiencing a sustained period of withdrawals.

Bitwise’s Solana ETF has also crossed the $1 billion mark, highlighting the growing appetite for crypto investment products beyond Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s ETF Momentum Faces Its First Test

Friday's outflows do not necessarily signal a broader reversal in institutional demand.

Bitcoin ETFs still attracted billions of dollars during the previous nine-session run, and August remains one of their strongest months of the year. However, the sudden change in flows comes as Bitcoin struggles to maintain higher levels.

With BTC falling below $78,000, investors will be watching whether the ETF market quickly returns to positive flows or whether Friday marks the beginning of a longer period of profit-taking.

The divergence with Ethereum, XRP and Solana ETFs is also becoming increasingly important.

Bitcoin may have lost its ETF momentum for a day, but capital is still flowing into crypto markets, increasingly through products focused on major altcoins.
