CRYPTO EXIT PLAN: 5 Ways To Leave The 2025 Bull Market
A bull run goes hand in hand with euphoria. However, you want to have a strong exit plan in place. We cover 5 points of such an exit plan.

In every single bull market, I have made this mistake. But this time I will not. This time I have an exit plan and I want to share it with you all. I’m not going to sugar coat this. Your portfolio most likely looks as red as mine does. Still, I want to talk about something else that’s important. I also think that markets will turn around again, they always do. Towards the end of the year or in early 2026, there may well be a top.
So, on the way there, you need to have an exit plan. During a bull run, euphoria rules, and it’s easy to keep waiting for the top. So, don’t end up round tripping your bags. It’s better to take profit too early, than not taking profit at all.
1. Different Risk Reward Profiles Between Trading and Long-Term Investing
I start with different risk reward profiles between trading and long-term investing. So, what do I mean by that? Let’s take a closer look at that. I assume that we all agree that you should take profits. However, on certain parts of your portfolio you should take more aggressively profits. By that I mean the trading part of your portfolio.

Now, with these profits, you have a couple of options. You can roll them into your high conviction long-term coins, or, alternatively, into fiat or $BTC. That’s because you don’t need to manage your long-term investing side of your portfolio so actively. These coins you expect to be still holding in two or three years down the line. Ideally even over various cycles.
In other words, your risk profiles are different. That plays an important role in how you manage them. So, to start with this, make sure that your portfolio doesn’t have too many coins. That’s a common mistake. Instead, DYOR, make sure you have six to eight high conviction coins and stick to them.
If you have other coins that you’re interested in, use them for trading. As described above, that’s the trading part of your portfolio. So, start with cutting down on your portfolio. After that, separate between your short and long-term coins.
2. High Conviction Plays
So, let’s take a look at high conviction plays. Here, at Altcoin Buzz, we see the RWA and AI sectors as high conviction plays. However, we also look at some L1, like Sui ($SUI), Solana ($SOL), Hedera ($HBAR), Ondo Finance ($ONDO), or Quant ($QNT). However, this can be different for every person. Maybe you prefer Ethereum ($ETH), Ripple ($XRP) or Cardano ($ADA).
But all these coins have a common denominator, they’re big cap blue chip coins. It’s a lot harder during this bull run to be successful with small or low cap coins. Simply because there are too many coins around. In 2021, you could buy a couple of small gems and at least one or two would take off. Possibly even with a 100x.
However, try that in 2025. Not. Gonna. Work. Remember the memecoins mania? Well, in 2025 there are 7 million tokens listed in GeckoTerminal. In 2021, this number was just over 400k. Over 3.6 million coins have died since 2021, that’s 52.7%. So, we all want that 100x. However, more realistic is to chase a 5x to 10x. That’s why you want to look at big cap blue chip coins.
3. When to Take Profits and Risk Control Measures
When to take profits can vary. I already explained in the first section. However, make sure that you do take profits. So, I’m going to call some numbers and percentages. However, use them as guidelines. They’re not set in stone. Each person has a different risk appetite. Nonetheless, let’s take a closer look.
Once your coin is up 2.5x, take a 40% profit. This should cover your initial investment. Whatever happens next, you’re not going to lose money on this trade. When you hit 4x or 5x, take another 40% profit. The remaining 20% you keep as a moonbag. Once you hit 10x, you can take this as a profit.
As already mentioned, you can play around with these numbers. Use them as guidelines. However, have a risk control measure plan in place. Have different strategies for different coins. For example, with low cap or risky assets, take profits more aggressively. You could also secure your initial investment earlier.
With higher caps, you can decide to wait longer before you take profit. They are less risky. However, keep one thing in mind, DO TAKE PROFITS.
Also, use a stop-loss discipline. If your project doesn’t deliver, don’t hold on to it. It may be best to cut your losses. Sell and move on. Don’t marry your bags.
4. Where to Roll Your Profits Into and Why?
Now, let’s take a look at where you should roll your profits. Your first option should be stables or fiat. Look, at the end of the day, you also want to do some fun stuff with your profits. So, your first option is stables. You may want to rotate some of your profits into fiat, for reasons mentioned before.
You can keep part of your stables to buy back in the bear. That bear will always be there. The period of bull run euphoria is rather small. That’s usually only a window of two to three months. So make sure to make the most out of this period.
However, you also want to put part of your profits into $BTC. That’s our and your store of value. Now, I personally will hodl this. This is your long-term savings account. So, always put some percentage of your profits into Bitcoin. Like a DCA strategy.
Once you need cash, you can borrow against your Bitcoin. Another option is to explore BTCfi. Make your Bitcoin work for you. Depending on how much $BTC you have, this could cover your living expenses. Or your rent, or a certain part or percentage of your lifestyle. Many chains offer this already. For example, you can take a look at Solana or Sui.
5. Make a Plan and Stick to It
The most important part is to make an exit plan before we hit the euphoria stage. If we’re there, it’s too late to start planning. You will easily get carried away. Make sure that your plan covers when to take profit and what to do with it. Like a percentage-based profit taking routine when certain numbers are being hit. Like a 2x, 5x, or 10x.
It’s also essential that you know what you’re going to do with your profits. Rotate them into stables, fiat, and Bitcoin. Stables, so you can buy back during the bear. Fiat to enjoy your profit. $BTC, as your savings account.
But most importantly, stick to your exit plan. That’s how millionaires are made. You will regret round-tripping your profits and not take any profit. Much more than taking profit too early. Nobody can predict the top. Also, don’t fall into the trap to rotate back into your bags. Yes, there may be another price increase, but this may be the last one before the bear starts.
Take your profits and don’t look back. Enjoy them and have fun. You can also check our recent article. So, do you have an exit plan in place? If so, let me know in the comments. Furthermore, make sure to join our discussions on X and Discord.
