Pavel Durov Unveils Cocoon: Confidential Network on TON

Cocoon is designed to support private and secure AI computing. It aims to create a bridge between blockchain technology and large-scale confidential computation.

Telegram will actively participate in the project’s development, with a public launch scheduled for November 2025, highlighting the platform’s growing influence in both decentralized and AI-driven technologies.

Cocoon: Private AI Computing on Blockchain

Durov also revealed the scale of the Telegram Economy, noting that third-party developers generated over $1 billion in revenue from Telegram Mini Apps in the past year. Mini Apps allow developers to build interactive applications directly inside Telegram, from games to productivity tools, creating a thriving ecosystem of digital services. The success of Mini Apps demonstrates not only the popularity of Telegram’s platform but also the potential for projects like Cocoon to gain traction by leveraging the same network and user base.

Cocoon is built on the TON blockchain, which provides a scalable and secure infrastructure, and it is powered by GPU-based mining, enabling high-performance computation. The network focuses on confidential AI compute, meaning that sensitive data can be processed securely without exposing it to third parties. This is particularly important for industries such as healthcare, finance, and research. Here, privacy is critical.

By combining blockchain’s transparency with confidential computing, Cocoon allows developers and enterprises to run AI tasks while maintaining data security. This approach aligns with the growing trend of privacy-first computing. It has gained traction as more companies seek ways to protect sensitive information while leveraging the power of AI. For instance, AI startups can now train models on private user data without risking breaches. This is a challenge that has slowed adoption in traditional cloud environments.

More About The Open Platform

The Open Platform announced that it has become the first Web3 unicorn within the Telegram ecosystem. It achieved a $1 billion valuation in its latest equity funding round.

The company credited this milestone to the support and trust of Ribbit Capital and Pantera Capital, whose investment underscores growing confidence in the platform’s potential and the broader Telegram-based Web3 ecosystem.

This achievement highlights the increasing traction of decentralized applications and digital services within established messaging networks.
