Binance founder **CZ** is entering the prediction market scene with a new project called **Opinion Labs**.
Prediction markets let users place trades on the likelihood of future outcomes—similar to betting but driven by data and market sentiment.
Opinion Labs launched this week with its first “Week #0” campaign. Users can earn points by making predictions, climbing the leaderboard, where 100,000 points are distributed each week. While there are no tokens yet, points could later be tied to rewards or platform governance—a common strategy to spark early adoption.
For now, Opinion Labs offers two main categories: Macro Markets and Trending Markets. Macro Markets cover global financial themes like US Federal Reserve rate decisions and inflation trends, offering traders a chance to speculate on big-picture events. Trending Markets, on the other hand, feature more accessible topics like “Will Ethereum reach an all-time high by October 31?” This mix makes the platform appealing to both serious analysts and casual traders who enjoy testing their instincts.
Recent growth in prediction platforms shows how powerful crowd-based forecasting can be. According to DefiLlama, prediction markets now hold over $100 million in total value locked, a 70% jump from early 2024. Polymarket alone saw record trading volume this year as users speculated on political outcomes ahead of the 2024 US election. So, CZ’s entrance could shake things up by adding Binance-scale reach and credibility to the sector.
Also, Opinion Labs announced that new signups are temporarily closed after a massive surge in traffic overwhelmed the platform. The team joked that “the intern made it and the site didn’t,” as trading volume skyrocketed past $208 million and continues to climb.
So, despite the rush, the platform’s network stayed stable, with Opinion Labs celebrating the milestone as proof of its growing momentum and reliability.
