Ledger Unveils $849 Atom With Solana's Seeker App Preinstalled

Ledger opened Atom reservations at $849 for a phone-like device with Solana Mobile's Seeker app preinstalled, as it investigates tampered wallets.

Ledger opened reservations on Thursday for Atom, an $849 device that runs everyday Android apps and a crypto wallet on the same hardware. At Ledger Op3n 2026 in Paris, Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner and put its Seeker app on every Atom.

The pitch is security, and the timing is hard to miss. Ledger is launching Atom while it works through an investigation into tampered devices sold through a Southeast Asian reseller, and several of the device's protections read as direct answers to that incident.

Two Modes, One Screen

Atom runs in one of two states at any moment. Standard Mode is the ordinary phone side, for apps like WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok. Secure Mode is where keys and approvals live.

The current state shows on a Secure Bar, a reserved strip at the top of the screen that only Ledger OS controls and that Standard Mode cannot draw into. When Secure Mode activates, a dedicated Field-Programmable Gate Array sitting physically between the Standard Mode processor and the display cuts Standard Mode's access to the screen and touch panel, Ledger explains. The goal is the same rule Ledger has built signers on since 2014: the screen you look at and the button you press should be the only way to approve a transaction, and no software should be able to fake either one.

The chip running Secure Mode carries Common Criteria EAL6+ assurance, the same level used in Ledger signers from the Nano S Plus onward. Ledger says Atom will also undergo CSPN evaluation by ANSSI, the French national cybersecurity agency, as a complete product.

A physical Privacy Switch cuts power to the camera and microphone at the circuit level, and both are cut automatically whenever Secure Mode is active. Ledger Wallet runs directly on Atom, so you can buy, sell, swap, earn yield and check a portfolio without pairing a phone or computer.

It is not a phone replacement. Atom connects to 4G and 5G for data only, with no voice calls or SMS, so it cannot reach emergency services.

Seeker's App Store Lands on Hardware Solana Didn't Build

Solana Mobile's announcement puts the Seeker app preloaded and featured on Atom's home screen, combining the Solana dApp Store and wallet into one app. Signing and approvals happen on Atom's Secure Screen, and the dApp Store's 1,500+ apps come with it.

Ledger is Solana Mobile's first hardware expansion partner, so the store built for Solana's own phones now reaches a device the company did not build. That follows March 2026, when Solana Mobile opened its Mobile Stack to Android manufacturers at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Solana Mobile shipped the Saga in 2023 and the Seeker in 2025, and puts Seeker at more than 200,000 devices sold, more than $13 billion in transaction volume and 154 million transactions. Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs, said the Seeker "shipped over a thousand apps with billions in transaction volume from over 100,000 users". Ian Rogers, Ledger's chief human agency officer, said Seeker "made self-custody feel natural on mobile".

The Enclosure Built to Stop a Screen Reader

Atom will contain anti-tampering and tamper-evident measures from packaging to the device, including methods to help detect if the enclosure has been opened, Ledger says. They include a protective enclosure around the most sensitive components, sensors that detect attempts to remove the screen or back cover, and packaging designed to reveal whether it has been opened. The tamper-detection system has its own battery, so it works with the device switched off.

That matters because of what happened ten days earlier. Ledger confirmed on 10 October that one affected user's device contained an unauthorized hardware implant. The compromised wallets allegedly held hidden chips able to intercept 24-word recovery phrases by reading signals from their screens.

Onchain researchers estimated losses of up to $93.2 million across more than 300 wallets, with Tether freezing $10 million in USDT tied to the theft. Totals vary between research tracks and Ledger has not confirmed a number, so treat any single figure as unresolved.

Ledger has asked distributors in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to suspend sales of its products, and European retail chain MediaMarkt pulled Ledger wallets off its shelves. Atom will only be sold directly on Ledger's official site, which removes the reseller channel the tampering ran through.

A $100 Deposit Now, Shipping in 2027

Founders Edition reservations take a fully refundable $100 deposit, with a reserve price of $849. Atom ships in 2027.

More partners will be announced starting at Solana Breakpoint next month, with benefits attached to early reservations. Ledger says it has sold more than eight million devices in 165 countries.

For anyone holding coins on a Ledger bought through a reseller, the more urgent question is still whether the device in their hands came from a channel Ledger controlled. Atom's answer is a year out.
