Moonriver Jumps 54% After Migration Claim Window Closes

Moonriver rose 54.10% in 24 hours as a late-claim guide closed, with perp trading volume at 21 times spot volume.

Moonriver traded at $2.79, up 54.10% over 24 hours and 222.60% over seven days, according to CoinGecko. The move followed the closure of a late-claim guide for Moonbeam and Moonriver holders, but the exact migration process remains unsettled.

The token traded between $1.55 and $3.04 over the same 24-hour period. Its seven-day range ran from $0.8636 to $3.04, showing how quickly the price moved after reaching the lower end of that window.

Late Claims Drove the Timing

The late-claim guide covered GLMR and MOVR and closed on September 29, 2026. Moonbeam had given missed holders 60 days to contact its helpdesk and submit a claim, with each case reviewed individually. It warned that missing that window could result in permanent loss of access to the tokens.

The wider public migration from Moonbeam to Base closed on July 31, 2026 at 23:59 UTC, according to Moonbeam’s forum. Both migration bridges stopped processing transfers at that deadline.

That makes the late-claim window the later event. It was not a second public migration, and the brief does not establish September 30 as a confirmed closure date for the claim process.

Perp Trading Dominated the Activity

CoinGecko put perp volume at 21 times spot volume. The eight-hour perp funding rate was positive at 0.0054%, meaning perpetual traders were paying holders of short positions to hold longer positions, at least at the measured time.

That ratio shows where most reported trading activity occurred, but it does not reveal how much of the move came from new spot buying. A confirmed open-interest figure tied to the token’s market capitalization would provide a clearer measure of leverage. No Binance share of perp open interest was confirmed for the move.

The absence of a confirmed Base price feed also limits comparisons between the migrated token’s market and its pre-migration history. CoinGecko had not supplied confirmed holder concentration or holder-count data.

Migration and Contract Risks Remain

CoinGecko flags that MOVR has moved from an old contract to a new contract. Its security page showed a 75% security score as of October 1, 2026, with platform audit coverage listed as unavailable.

The price move happened after an already difficult migration process. The Moonbeam parachain was deregistered on August 1, and its Open Technical Committee entered maintenance mode. Balances, EVM, Ethereum and XCM calls were rejected for users at that point, according to the Polkadot forum.

A level near $2.79 would not confirm a sustained recovery. Falling back toward the 24-hour low of $1.55 would show that much of the post-claim move had reversed. Holding above that range would establish only that the price remains above its pre-move floor, not that migration risk or contract risk has been resolved.
