Nadex became a US exchange for stock futures via Sept. 14 filing

Crypto.com's futures venue Nadex became a US-registered national securities exchange for security futures products the moment it filed Form 1-N on Sept. 14, 2026. Section 6(g) of the Securities Exchange Act made the filing equivalent to registration, with no SEC vote.

On Sept. 14, Nadex filed Form 1-N, and became a US-registered national securities exchange for security futures products at the same moment, under a provision that lets a CFTC market join the SEC's rolls without a vote. The SEC acknowledged receipt two days later, on Sept. 16.

Section 6(g) of the Securities Exchange Act lets a board of trade already under the Commodity Exchange Act register as a national securities exchange solely for trading security futures products by filing a written notice. Under the rule, the registration takes effect at the same time as the submission, so the SEC's acknowledgement is procedural, and the release names no product.

What Nadex is, and what the registration covers

Nadex has been a CFTC-designated contract market since 2004, when it was designated as HedgeStreet. Foris DAX Markets bought it in March 2022, and the CFTC amended the designation order in September 2025 to let the exchange offer margined futures cleared on an intermediated basis by registered futures commission merchants.

The Section 6(g) registration bars Nadex from listing any securities beyond security futures products and certain CEA-authorized futures on exempted securities and stock indexes. CEO Kris Marszalek said in a post on X that the filing covered Crypto.com's futures exchange through OG.com, the trader-focused venue Crypto.com is spinning off, and that the company is "now authorized to bring single-stock futures to the market." Robinhood began routing football event contracts to OG.com this month and agreed to take equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com both once the spin-off completes.

Perpetuals are not in this filing

Nothing in the Form 1-N covers perpetual futures, which Marszalek said Crypto.com is "working with the SEC and the CFTC to offer" in the US. He named no launch date, stocks, or leverage limits. Coinbase Derivatives filed its own Form 1-N on Sept. 1, which the SEC acknowledged on Sept. 8, also as a step toward listing perpetual futures on individual stocks, a route that still requires CFTC sign-off.

What to watch next

The Nadex filing is effective. The SEC's Sept. 16 release names no product, and its full text is not publicly available. Perpetual stock futures, the more speculative product several US crypto venues are racing to list, are still in the rule-writing stage with both regulators and have no launch date from Crypto.com.
