Nexo launches regulated crypto backed Credit Lines for Australian crypto users

Nexo has expanded its Australian offering after securing Credit Representative status, allowing eligible clients to access regulated crypto-backed credit without selling their digital assets.

The company announced on August 18 that its Australian entity has launched Credit Lines under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act. The move positions Nexo among a small group of digital asset platforms offering regulated crypto-backed credit in Australia.

The launch also expands Nexo's local offering beyond trading and asset management, as the company looks to combine borrowing, earning and digital-asset management through a single platform.

Nexo brings crypto-backed credit to Australian clients

Nexo's new Credit Lines allow eligible Australian clients to borrow against supported digital assets while maintaining exposure to those assets.

According to the company, interest rates range from 0.9% to 21.9% annually, depending on the client's loyalty tier and Credit Line version. Funds are typically available within 24 hours, while the product does not have a fixed repayment term or origination fees.

Clients can also make flexible repayments.

One notable feature is the ability to receive borrowed funds in either Australian dollars (AUD) or stablecoins. Nexo says Australian customers will also receive a dedicated AUD account number for deposits, which is intended to make local transfers easier.

The company has additionally introduced Collateral Exchange, allowing clients to switch between eligible collateral assets without closing their Credit Line.

Nexo expands its regulated presence in Australia

The Credit Line launch follows Nexo Australia's appointment as a Credit Representative.

Nexo Australia is locally incorporated, registered with AUSTRAC as a Virtual Asset Service Provider, and is a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), according to the company.

The new Credit Lines therefore represent a broader move toward integrating digital assets into regulated financial products.

Peter Stanhope, Nexo's General Manager for Australia, said the company designed the products with Australian regulatory requirements and consumer protections in mind.

The company also sees an opportunity in Australia's growing cryptocurrency ownership and credit markets.

According to the figures cited by Nexo, nearly one in three Australians owns cryptocurrency. At the same time, Australia recorded A$9.8 billion in new personal fixed-term loan commitments in the March quarter of 2026, representing a 14.5% increase from the same quarter a year earlier.

Nexo argues that these trends create room for products that allow crypto holders to use their digital assets for liquidity without necessarily selling them.

About Nexo

Nexo is a digital asset wealth platform that provides products designed to help clients grow, manage and preserve their crypto holdings. The company has operated since 2018 and says it serves clients across more than 200 jurisdictions.

Its platform includes Nexo Growth, crypto-backed loans, trading tools and liquidity solutions, with a crypto-backed card also available in certain markets.

According to the company's announcement, Nexo Group has processed more than $403 billion since its inception and manages more than $7 billion in assets.

In Australia, the company is expanding this broader digital-wealth approach through Credit Lines, Growth, its exchange and the Wealth Club loyalty program.

Nexo adds Booster and Growth products

The Australian expansion goes beyond Credit Lines.

Nexo has also introduced the Nexo Booster, which allows eligible clients to increase their digital-asset exposure by up to three times, with the resulting positions used as collateral.

The company has also brought back its growth product in Australia under the name Nexo Growth.

Nexo says eligible supported assets can earn up to 10% annually, although rates vary by asset and term and returns are not guaranteed. Customers can choose between Flexible Growth, where returns accrue daily and funds can be withdrawn on request, and Fixed-term Growth, which provides a higher return rate for a specified period.

These products are being combined with Nexo's existing exchange and its Wealth Club loyalty program.

Nexo targets a broader digital wealth market

Nexo's Australian strategy reflects a broader shift in how crypto platforms are positioning themselves.

Rather than focusing exclusively on buying, selling and storing cryptocurrencies, companies are increasingly developing products around borrowing, earning and portfolio management.

Nexo's Wealth Club is designed to reward higher platform activity through benefits including improved Credit Line rates, cashback and lifestyle perks across four tiers.

The company said its Australian expansion builds on its existing local presence, including its role as the first Official Crypto Partner of the Australian Open.

What Nexo's Australian launch means for crypto credit

The launch gives Australian crypto holders another way to access liquidity while retaining their digital-asset exposure.

The key development, however, is the regulated structure surrounding the Credit Lines. By operating within Australia's consumer-credit framework, Nexo is attempting to position crypto-backed borrowing closer to conventional financial products while maintaining the flexibility associated with digital assets.

Whether the model gains significant adoption will depend on factors such as borrowing costs, eligible collateral, market conditions and consumer demand.

For now, Nexo's expansion signals that crypto-backed credit is moving further into Australia's regulated financial ecosystem, adding another use case for digital assets beyond trading and investment.
