OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplace, just took a major step in expanding its multi-chain capabilities
While NFTs helped OpenSea rise to prominence, this update is all about coins.
For now, users can trade SPL tokens (Solana-based assets), with NFT integration set to follow soon. And though the rollout is starting in closed beta, the team plans to open access to more users in the coming weeks. If you’re eager to try it early, OpenSea is asking users to drop their SOL addresses for a chance to be whitelisted.
This isn’t OpenSea’s first Solana rodeo. In early 2022, OpenSea added support for Solana NFTs. But that integration has seen mixed results due to UI limitations and competing platforms like Magic Eden dominating the space. Now, with OS2 and a renewed focus on token trading first, OpenSea aims to re-establish its presence on Solana with a cleaner, faster user experience.
This update is part of a wider push from OpenSea to support a truly multi-chain future, where users can trade assets across Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and more—all in one place. OS2, the company’s updated architecture, is designed to handle this shift with smoother performance and a more flexible backend.
Anyone interested in the PENGU token can easily purchase it directly from the OpenSea NFT collection page. OpenSea, one of the largest NFT marketplaces, now supports token trading through its updated platform, OS2.
This means users can browse the PENGU collection, view available listings, and buy tokens seamlessly, just like NFTs. It’s a simple way for newcomers and seasoned collectors alike to join the PENGU community. This is without needing to use a separate exchange.
