The Swiss company behind ProtonMail has taken a big leap into the world of Bitcoin with the launch of Proton Wallet
This new Bitcoin wallet offers an easy and secure way to handle Bitcoin with complete control over their funds.
More than 100,000 early adopters from the Proton community have already used the early access version of Proton Wallet to hold BTC and transact peer-to-peer. One of the standout features of the wallet is the Bitcoin via Email feature, which allows users to send and receive Bitcoin using only their email address—making it as easy as pie to use Bitcoin for everyday transactions.
At no point does Proton have control over users’ Bitcoin. Everyone who uses Proton Wallet is in the driver’s seat. Your BTC stays in your hands. So, users can move it to other wallets at any time with a simple 12-word seed phrase. This ensures that Proton Wallet is in line with the self-custody principles that are key to the decentralized world of crypto.
If you’re already a Proton user, you’re in luck. Access to Proton Wallet is as simple as logging into your account. Just visit wallet.proton.me or download the mobile app for iOS and Android, and log in with your Proton username and password to get started. It’s that easy.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, recently shared exciting developments for the company, unveiling Tether Data—a preview of several AI-powered applications in the works. These include an AI translation tool, a voice assistant, and a Bitcoin wallet assistant. Tether is also preparing to launch its own open-source AI SDK platform, built on Bare (Holepunch’s JavaScript runtime), ensuring compatibility across a range of devices, from budget mobiles to powerful servers.
The focus of Tether Data’s apps will be on local device operation. According to Ardoino, it will ensure full privacy and self-custody of both data and funds.
