Our first midcap today is Walrus ($WAL). It’s the decentralized data storage protocol on Sui. And as you just heard, with Seal, they have added access control.
What that means is that it’s easy to give, revoke, and control access to the data Walrus is storing for you.
Think about the implications of this. Whether it’s medical records and other sensitive information, you can restrict access. For example, let your specialist have access to your medical records. But access is only for 72 hours to help with a diagnosis or a surgical consult. After that, access reverts back to only you.
And even bigger implications are for AI and the management of data sets. You can train the model however you want, but you can limit who else has access to your data set. OR if your data is part of the dataset, you can restrict who sees it.
And with Seal’s encryption on Walrus, we get what the Walrus team calls programmable privacy. This is a huge step forward. Especially since we expect Walrus to become a big player in decentralized AI and the storage and use of AI models.
The Walrus Ecosystem is growing fast, too. Talus uses Walrus to process data on-chain quickly so they can deploy AI agents faster. RWA protocol Plume uses Walrus to ensure they can verify asset data.
OpenGradient is here and on a Bittensor subnet as well. It uses Walrus to access and train AI models. And there’s LOTS more. 178 projects are listed on the Ecosystem Project directory.
And it’s not just AI. There are gaming and entertainment apps here. And even infrastructure like Crossmint for adding APIs to wallets and AI-agent-based commerce.
Finally, Google is partnering with both Sui and Walrus on Agentic Payments. This is what we have been waiting for here at Altcoin Buzz. Full AI automations that include digital payments to an AI agent with crypto. Sui is part of Google’s AP2 protocol, making this happen.
Walrus wants to be the Web3 Amazon Web Services. And it looks like they are well on the way.
At a price of 45c, $WAL has a market value of $650 million. That’s squarely in the midcap range, as it’s under $1 billion. Its launch was in March. Circulating supply is 1.44 billion out of a total and maximum supply of 5 billion. This number is lower than we’d like, but the TGE was recent. We expect this number to improve. Its all-time high was 73c in May, and we expect Walrus to challenge that this cycle.
It’s too good a project not to. And it seems foolish to bet against the Mysten Labs team with all the wins they are piling up.
Virtuals ($VIRTUAL) is a midcap AI-driven protocol. Its token $VIRTUAL trades around $1.40 with a $904M market cap. This puts their ranking under #150 for the industry. Supply is capped at 100M tokens. Recent price action shows strong demand from investors in both AI and DeFi.
On September 12, 2025, Virtuals co-founder shared an ambitious goal. To reach $100M in agent-based revenue by year-end. Many fans got excited by this announcement. And Messari and Meme Insider both reported on this update. The team highlights AI agents as an entirely new layer in DeFi economies.
Another highlight this week came from ecosystem partnerships. Backroom, a partner project, announced deeper integration with Virtuals. On-chain tools now can access more, better AI agents. Partnerships like these help keep momentum growing. And we are seeing more activity on X and in DeFi as a result.
Ecosystem data is more evidence of growth. Virtuals reports growing revenue streams on DeFiLlama. These include annualized fees crossing $9.2M. TVL remains small but rising, signaling early-stage adoption. Agentic activity keeps growing. These metrics show positive week-over-week growth.
Looking ahead, Virtuals aims to expand its AI economic layer by Q4. Short-term catalysts include roadmap milestones and agent partnerships. Here’s what the technical analysis tells us. $VIRTUAL shows support near $2.40 with resistance around $3.20. A breakout above resistance could confirm the next leg up. It would not surprise us to see a breakout like this during this cycle.
Morpho ($MORPHO) is one of DeFi’s most efficient lending layers. Its $MORPHO token trades near $2.06 with a $680M market cap. Ranked around 158, it’s drawing attention from large holders. Supply inflows from staking have fueled steady growth in liquidity.
Then there is this key recent development. Altcoin Buzz listed $MORPHO among projects facing major unlocks this week. In fact, the unlock will be $513M in circulating value in Morpho. Despite this, Morpho’s core TVL remains resilient. Investors view unlocks as opportunities rather than pure risk.
Dune Analytics highlighted Morpho’s rise on September 8. They show over 220K active wallets in 2025. The dashboard also cites growth in weekly loan volumes. These stats show more adoption than hype. It cements Morpho as a serious DeFi contender.
Ecosystem growth is clear on DeFiLlama. Morpho shows $2.7B TVL. That’s up 18% month-over-month. Its integrations with Aave and Compound drive sustainable yields. Governance plans include expanding to more chains. And we know more chains means more adoption potential.
Morpho’s conclusion is clear. More users mean more revenue. Here’s what the technicals on $MORPHO tell us. Resistance sits near $4.17, while strong support remains at $3.80. A breakout above $4.17 takes us to price discovery. Integrations and positive momentum keep moving things ahead for Morpho. So it’s likely Morpho could breakout from here.
