Ripple Launches Permissioned DEX on XRP Ledger

Ripple has just launched a Permissioned DEX for institutions that need adherence to KYC and compliance rules.

This significant upgrade to the XRP Ledger will help banks and regulated institutions safely onboard into DeFi. Let’s discover more about this important news for Ripple.

What Is a Permissioned DEX?

A standard DEX operates similarly to a public market, allowing anyone to join and participate in trading. The Ripple Permissioned DEX grants financial institutions (banks, fintechs, and payment providers) access to a permissioned trading experience on the XRP Ledger verifiable by XRP Ledger credentials.

Ripple can enable all of this through its Permissioned DEX, which complies with specific financial frameworks.

Why This Is a Big Deal

For years, institutions have been hesitant to use DeFi tools because most blockchains lack regulatory oversight. Ripple is addressing this by providing institutions with the speed and transparency of blockchain technology. They are doing this without sacrificing the privacy they deem necessary.

A new XRP Ledger milestone complements the launch of the new DEX. Ripple Labs refers to this latest update as rippled v2.5.0. It includes key features like TokenEscrow, batch payments, and permission delegation. These features can be beneficial for regulated institutions.

These permissioned trading regions have the support of Ripple’s inbuilt protocol. They do not need custom smart contracts. They also don’t rely on off-chain hacks. It’s all native, secure, and streamlined.

Ripple’s Bigger Vision

Ripple is pushing forward with a broader goal, making blockchain a trusted part of the traditional finance sector. Another part of that puzzle is the Permissioned DEX. It enables real-world institutions to use the XRP Ledger on their terms. They can do this without giving up control or compromising compliance.

By introducing its Permissioned DEX, Ripple is sending an open invitation asking regulated institutions to join decentralized trading. It is a new combination of speed, security, and trust. This marks a significant milestone in Ripple’s pursuit of its goal. The goal is to make blockchain practical in the real world.
