Ripple has partnered with Unicâmbio, a Portuguese currency exchange provider, to enhance digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions.
By leveraging Ripple, the partnership aims to make cross-border transactions faster and cheaper. It also strives to increase efficiency in the process.
This marks the first time Ripple’s payment solution will be available in Portugal, expanding the company’s footprint in Europe. Ripple’s solution is set to strengthen the payment corridor between Portugal and Brazil, both of which share deep economic and cultural ties. Unicâmbio’s corporate customers will now be able to move funds across borders and settle payments in a matter of minutes, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with traditional methods.
Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for the UK and Europe, noted, “This partnership is a significant milestone in Ripple’s European expansion. Portugal has become a hotbed for crypto innovation, and we’re excited to bring our solution to local partners.” Craddock also highlighted how Ripple’s technology connects payment networks in both countries, enhancing cross-border transactions and bolstering the economic bridge between Portugal and Brazil.
Adriana Jerónimo, Executive Board Member at Unicâmbio, emphasized the transformative impact of blockchain technology on the money movement between Portugal and Brazil. She said, “Ripple’s crypto-enabled payments solution offers near-instant settlement, slashing costs compared to traditional methods, and ultimately delivering real value to our customers.”
